Gov. Sarah Palin has signed a joint resolution declaring Alaska's sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution and now 36 other states have introduced similar resolutions as part of a growing resistance to the federal government.
Just weeks before she plans to step down from her position as Alaska governor, Palin signed House Joint Resolution 27, sponsored by state Rep. Mike Kelly on July 10, according to a Tenth Amendment Center report. The resolution "claims sovereignty for the state under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States."
Alaska's House passed HJR 27 by a vote of 37-0, and the Senate passed it by a vote of 40-0.

Palin's parting parthian shot.
More please.

All RIGHT! Palin Power!
I wish she would stay and defend the ground she claims Alaskan sovereignty over. These sovereignty bills need the backing of governors with firm resolve to hold their ground, not “parting parthian shots.”
Too bad the anklebiters made that impossible.
Now she’s free to help conservatives in the lower 48.
bttt
And now a famous quote from our old friend Bob Barker...”Sarah Palin... COME ON DOWN!!!!”
House vote 37-0, and the Senate vote 40-0
wow, That’s impressive!
This is news that ADN won’t cover, ADN Anchorage Daily News is a liberal owned paper and I have yet to see anything about this there.
Palin Power rides on!
Can't wait to see what she does next.
I find little reason to applaud a retreating commander. What’s she going to do for the lower 48? Fire more parthian shots?
I hold my tongue, for the most part, regarding Sarah Palin. But I can’t keep silent in the face of the never-ending praise for her retreats.
Perhaps I’ve misjudged the situation? Quite possibly.
But it seems to me that a better tactical move (on America’s behalf) would’ve been to give Parnell the opportunity to say, “My first act as incoming governor will be to declare Alaska’s sovereignty, and to tell the Washington to back off!” Wouldn’t that strike a powerful blow for liberty and establish him as the leader in defending his command? (Seems to me that’s the proper way to transfer command to one’s successor.)
I recall when Clinton was in office Alaska stating that if the U.S. went global tax/policy/ government adhering to the U.N.’s utopian commie dreams of global governance, they would break away.
I just wrote them, quoted a portion of the article, and asked them where their coverage of it was. We’ll see...
The winds of Secession are blowing!
Perhaps she wanted to make sure this was taken care of before she left office. If she didn’t do it and the bill was never signed, everyone would say - ‘why didn’t Sarah do it while she was in office?’ Seems one can’t win sometimes.
This is a start, it is important that members here keep the pressure on to get the rest of the 36 to sign theirs off also. Once a majority of states sign off, then the governors can band together and tell the Fed that they are sovereign states, not political subdivisions of the Fed. Only then can the states take their rights back. When 2/3 of the states can hang together for a cause, then the Fed is disabled.
So you’re suggesting that Lt. Gov. Parnell, her successor whom she praised so highly and to whom she consigned the remainder of her term, might not have the guts to lead Alaska after all? Sarah Palin has got to make sure the important stuff gets done before she hands the reins over to him?
You make it sound like she should be staying rather than resigning. But of course, as PowerPro put it above, “the anklebiters made that impossible” by running her out of office. (So this is apparently her fighting retreat.)
Forgive me, but I just don’t see what’s so great about this new leader of ours. It doesn’t look like she can lead us to victory.
