House healthcare negotiations dissolved in acrimony on Friday, with Blue Dog Democrats saying they were “lied” to by their Democratic leaders.
The seven Blue Dogs on the Energy and Commerce Committee stormed out of a Friday meeting with their committee chairman, Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), saying Waxman had been negotiating in bad faith over a number of provisions Blue Dogs demanded be changed in the stalled healthcare bill.
“I’ve been lied to,” Blue Dog Coalition Co-Chairman Charlie Melancon (D-La.) said on Friday. “We have not had legitimate negotiations.
“Mr. Waxman has decided to sever discussions with the Blue Dogs who are trying to make this bill work for America,” Melancon said...

"Waxman simply does not have votes in committee and process should not be bypassed to bring the bill straight to floor,” Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), the lead Blue Dog negotiator, said on Friday. “We are trying to save this bill and trying to save this party.”
Melancon said there would be 40-45 “solid no” votes from the 52-strong Blue Dogs, among other problems throughout the caucus.

Very soon after being sworn in January 2005, Melancon joined the Blue Dog Democrats. He is a fairly conservative Democrat by national standards — in fact, a section of his campaign site, "Louisiana Values," detailed his opposition to gun control, abortion and same-sex marriage. Yeah? Well, maybe for a Dem he was somewhat conservative in his first couple of years(Lifetime 46 ACU Rating) but Monsieur Melancon’s ACU numbers took a nosedive in 2007 and 2008 with 36% and 12% respectively. When push comes to shove he will vote the Pelosi way.
I know nothing about him, I just posted the Wikipedia description that he is anti gun control, anti abortion, and anti same sex marriages. If that is incorrect or has changed, then so be it . I have no dog fighting here.

Majority Leader Harry Reid to seek some emergency relief by
announcing there would be no health care vote until after
the August recess.
But is it really good news?
Any delay is good, but Reid’s actions are little more than
political misdirection—a ploy to release some of the built
up pressure while the “dirty details” of ObamaCare can be
worked out and tidied up in the Senate Finance Committee.
Reid’s carefully calculated actions prove to me that we
are making a powerful—even historic impact! Imagine
the day after day deluge of petitions, faxes, phone
calls pummeling the Energy and Commerce committee—with
no end in sight!
Keith, we are overwhelming lawmakers.
With Obama breathing down his back demanding he get this done,
Reid had to do something to neutralize us. But that’s precisely
why we can’t fall for his “pressure release ploy.”
No, it’s paramount that we not allow Reid to silence us.
With ObamaCare now being worked on in the Senate Finance Committee,
I want to overwhelm them with a tsunami of protest from grassroots
Americans who refuse to allow the federal government to increase
their control over us by co-opting our health care system.
