For First Time, Obama's Approval Rating Falls Below 50%

Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance, RASMUSSEN will report later this morning.

This marks the first time his overall approval rating has ever fallen below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

Eighty-three percent (83%) of Democrats continue to approve of the President'’s performance while 80% of Republicans disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 37% offer a positive assessment.

The President earns approval from 51% of women and 47% of men.

RASMUSSEN was the most accurate pollster for the final results of the 2008 Presidential election.

Obama is saying, “so what, you racist Americans are still going to get nationalized healthcare and cap and tax. We’ll see who’s laughing.”

I’m guessing that if Hillary resigns as Sec. of State and starts sending out hints that she will run again in 2012, it will signal that he’s losing ground and his re-election could be very iffy. Course, then again, I may not know what the heck I’m talking about.

“Ignoring his irrational 97 percent approval rating from blacks, he’s below 40 percent from everyone else.”

Any wonder why Colin Powell endorsed 0? Racism.

Not only that... But you know these numbers are inflated by the MSM. He may be closer to 39 percent... rather than 49

My thought too.

"And keep it in perspective. Bush was around 33% after Iraq petered out."

Bush finished his presidency with a 35% approval from the Rasmussen poll. Obama is only 14% above that right now.

Many white voters supported him for the same reason: racism (white guilt). Take away the support he generated and has maintained through race-baiting and he has maybe 25 percent support.

I’m shocked that his approval is that high.

You're right. Under stress people tend to revert to type. In the obama administration that means some form of:

Blame former President Bush for something. Maybe trot out Gitmo or interrogation. Blaming him for the economy is getting more than a little stale.

Demonize a conservative. Sarah Palin and Rush are good candidates. Maybe try to dig up or simply fabricate something. Generate an issue and try to attach it to them.

Play the race card. No matter how diluted or worn out it is. Maybe use its sibling, class warfare. Create a divisive issue to distract the MSM and citizens with.

Foment some international crisis. Maybe Iran or North Korea will do something stupid and accommodating for obama. Then again, that we have a viable Missile Defense is really thanks to former Presidents Bush (both) and Reagan. May not want to promote them or their legacy.

Strike off into some new field/issue. Raise something else to the forefront. It doesn't matter that we haven't seen real progress, nor any follow-through on his grandiose plans and claims. Nothing has changed in the Middle East, the war on terror, the economy, health care, transparency, bipartisanship, spending... obama starts something, makes a lot of noise, not much progress, and leaves expensive, half-a$$ed and half-complete "solutions" in his wake. Maybe he'll look to Central America.

considering 97% of blacks still approve of him, although about 15% of them are unemployed, seems to suggest his ratings can drop only so far, unfortunately.

Blacks are 12% or so of the population

95% of blacks vote Democrat

According to Gallup, they give Obama a 95% approval rating.

I would like to see these approval / disapproval ratings without the black impact.

I think that would be an eye opener.

And keep it in perspective. Bush was around 33% after Iraq petered out.

Due to the Dem's numerical advantages, Obamas 'floor' is probably in the high-30's or low-40's. He could screw up everything he touches until Nov. '12 & still poll around 40.

Bush finished his presidency with a 35% approval from the Rasmussen poll. Obama is only 14% above that right now.

True. And that 14% cannot all come from the 37% remaining independents.

Bush dropped to 60% approval among Republicansto get as low as that. Conservatives bolted from him due to fiscal shennanigans, amnesty, etc.

If and when you see the rabid left sheeple pull away from Obama...from 4-of-5 (now) to like 3-of-4, THEN and only then will there be an meaningful approval problem for Barry.

Poor Barry. It seems Obama is failing at everything. Rasmussen has the following poll highlights:

Just 20% Say Health Care is Obama’s Top Priority
53% Say Obama is a Partisan Democrat
53% Now Oppose Congressional Health Care Reform
