For First Time, Obama's Approval Rating Falls Below 50%
Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance, RASMUSSEN will report later this morning.
This marks the first time his overall approval rating has ever fallen below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.
Eighty-three percent (83%) of Democrats continue to approve of the President'’s performance while 80% of Republicans disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 37% offer a positive assessment.
The President earns approval from 51% of women and 47% of men.
RASMUSSEN was the most accurate pollster for the final results of the 2008 Presidential election.

No, President Clinton polled at about 40% in August, 1993. Of course, Clinton started off in the low 50s; Obama started off in the high 60s, even early 70s if you believe all the polls.
Nor is this the fastest drop-off, but it is the fastest drop-off among elected presidents; Ford is the fastest drop-off, but his collapse was over the pardon of Richard Nixon.
Of 12 modern presidents, Obama is the 3rd least popular at this point, though, which is pretty damned bad.

Changey McChange promised you a rose garden, and you believed. You wanted so badly to believe. Heck, it didn’t take much, who wouldn’t want to believe in this guy. He’d make you taller, smarter, stronger, and your smile whiter. Better nutrition and healthcare for everyone. Ladies, he would make your men more sensitive and get them to want to watch Hugh Grant movies. Men, he woudl subsidize Enzyte, and turn us all into “Smilin’ Bob”, and talk your wife into that augmentation surgery you never had the courage to ask for. Terrorism schmerorism. Vote for Barry O, and you’d be farting through pure silk.
By contrast, the Republicans ran McCain. Enough clips of him hugging Teddy K. to scare the conservatives, and enough memories of him acting like Captain Queeg to scare everyone. President Bush, while I love the guy, wasnt a great communicator. In fact, he wasnt a good or average communicator. He kept us safe, and for that we owe him, but he didn’t use the bully pulpit....I like him, but thats just the truth, and it did hurt.
But reality has a funny way of hitting you across the head. Just because a guy can speak in rythym, and looks good without a shirt, doesnt mean he knows anything about what he is doing. We may, may, get fortunate enough to have the American people realize what a space cadet he is. If we can get lucky enough to get through 4 years without getting something blown up, or the economy going completely to shambles, he may just serve the purpose that Jimmah Carter did....to remind us how desperately we need a real conservative in the Oval Office.
Will that real conservative please stand up?
