ATF to Montana: 'You will respect our authoritah!'

On Friday, we saw the letter ATF sent to FFL dealers in Tennessee telling them the Bureau was overriding the state's Firearms Freedom Act, and would continue to impose federal requirements in disregard of state law.

This is starting to remind me of Molon Labe. http://www.amazon.com/Molon-Labe-Boston-T-Party/dp/1888766077/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1248020407&sr=8-1

The first skirmish in the war to turn this country back from some of the more egregious usurpations of state and local authority by the suffocating central nanny government that liberal Democrats have foisted on us?

So what would happen if the Tennessee State police arrested the ATF if they try to break Tennessee law?

Probably the same thing that happened in Little Rock, Arkansas and in Alabama during the 50s and 60s during the forced school integration dust-up. Federal troops and US Marshals will descend up the place en masse.

They are telling FFL holders what is required of them. (Emphasis on the first “F”.) The real test will occur when someone that doesn't have an FFL manufactures and sells a firearm, ammo or firearm accessory for use in the state only.

I had not thought of that, it will be interesting to watch.

Write the law so that it a crime to order someone to infringe on a Constitutional right too so the State can indict and issue fugitive warrants for the arrest of the bosses in Washington too.

Is Montana one of the states that has reinforced the 10th Amendment?? Even if they aren’t, the ATF still cannot override the 10th Amendment which still, as far as I know, stands as part of the Bill of Rights.

This could be an interesting showdown between the state and the feds. Watch this one closely. Let’s see if zero will try to “isolate” that state for daring to pass and enforce its own laws in contrast to what the government wants.

Nasty letters from the Feds or the u.N. are nothing but paper, make them actually enforce it.

You do remember Waco, don't you?. Depending on the time, it was based on either child abuse or illegal weapons.

The 2nd is still part of the BoR and they have no qualms end running that. Do you really think they’d lose any sleep over something like the 10th?

Ok, let's take this hypothetical event a little further - what would happen if thousands of armed citizens showed up in Tennessee to support the state and oppose the feds?

Fair question and a good point. I guess we're quickly approaching the point in which the states either enforce the BoR and their own sovereignty, or they roll over and let the feds steamroller them.

You should start. It’s one of the only conservative-themed shows on TV.

SP is "conservative-themed?" Like "Woodland Critter Christmas?" or "Red Sleigh Down?" Just because "The Prophets" Parker and Stone hate liberals and their sheer stupidity doesn't make them conservative. I've found that most of the people who label themselves conservative that I know find SP offensive and childish. Those could be a few of the reasons I love it so much myself. But please, just because they're "anti-leftist" doesn't make them conservative, any more than Fred Phelps being against gay marriage makes HIM a conservative!

And NO, I'm NOT comparing "The Prophets" Parker and Stone to Fred Phelps! I love them, while Phelps needs to be made the central character in a "Whack-A-Mole" games at a gay pride carnival!

I’m betting on “steamroller”. It’ll up to Patriots like us to hold their feet to the fire.

You get states rights, unless Washington tells you there are no state rights?

Even if your citizens vote on it.

Iraq has a better Republic. The Kurds are semi autonomous.

This could be very interesting... If the SCOTUS agrees to take the case, and it WILL wind up going to federal courts, if the states win (doubtful, when was the last time a federal court chose to reduce federal power over state power), it should force incorporation of the Second Amendment to the States. On the other hand, should the SCOTUS rule that the States have this right, it could mean that the Second Amendment does NOT apply to the states, since federal powers are not recognized.

Damn...

I remeber Waco, I was in Chicago, siting in a FBO, my chief pilot at the time Ted King, was 66.

Ted, listening to some morons talk about it being "about damn time they got those people", stood up and said, "The government just murdered all those people..........things have changed", the room went silent.

Ted was so right, I can see the whole thing as if it happened this morning.

Alleged child abuse. There were no charges, let alone convictions.

That's not mentioning that David Koresh could have been arrested on his jog.

SP is "conservative-themed?"

Yes, because it generally contains themes of common sense and self-reliability, and routinely mocks liberal tenets like radical environmentalism and affirmative action.

If the conservatives you cite are put off by the show because of its dirty jokes, that's too bad for them. They should look a little deeper. As should you.
