I’m going to take your earlier advice and return to this thread when I’m more calm.
FCC should be closed and all frequencies will fall under the same laws that govern land and land use. Governments can eminent domain frequencies for government use (Fire, police, military). Courts shall decide if broadcasters are “trespassing” upon frequency ownerships. They shall be bought and sold and treated as land.
This would negate licensing crap that could/would squelch free speech.
Would also suggest the first amendment be amended to include freedom of broadcast media, the internet, and all future forms of communication.
The first amendment of the constitution allows freedom of speech to redress government transgressions. Visiting Washington in great numbers falls within the constitution's enumeration of God-given rights.
If we truly revere the Constitution then we must must abide by its system of elections. If Obama were to declare himself dictator and not allow elections (or something of that nature) than we could Constitutionally resort to mobs and force but at the moment to do so would be to make ourselves the destroyers of the Constitution.
I wholeheartedly disagree. Obama has alerady effectively declared himself dictator, with aid of a leftist media, house, Senate, and court system. The constitution is being shredded before our very eyes. If we don't act now with a show of force (vocal force, not a shootout), he will continue unencumbered. If we do act in force, he may still act against the constitution and the will of the people as he has done, but we will have exhausted our rights under the first amendment and can constitutionally move on.
Absolutely.
Know this: the most embarrassing, stupid, unwise and unwarranted of the 10,000 posts made in a week WILL become a headline at MSNBC/MediaMatters/dKOS or where-ever, to tell the Obama koolaid drinkers how dangerous and extreme Freepers are. So a note to all: Dont let it be your post.
"NO MORE THAN EVER WE NEED TO UNITE."
Yup. United we stand, divided we fall. All the more reason to have a focus on our key points of agreement and stand our ground there in ways that cant get misconstrued by the left.
Not only has it not been exercised but the SC itself has enjoined in the Constitutional go around.
I would favor a massive peacefull march in DC to urge our Representatives to oppose Obama’s socialist agenda. What I oppose is any violence or any idea of trying to use this march to undo the last election through the implied threat of force.
The first amendment of the constitution allows freedom of speech to redress government transgressions. Visiting Washington in great numbers falls within the constitution's enumeration of God-given rights.
Nobody has a problem with the March itself, its the specific extra-Constitutional actions advocated that are being criticized. let me repeat #661:
Absolutely NOBODY here has a problem with that. Absolutely NOBODY here has a problem calling out the socialist scum-bucket politicians who have passed bailouts and budgets that are bankrupting us and are voting to destroy our freedoms with ObamaCare and cap-n-trade etc. Absolutely NOBODY here has a problem with finding ways to bounce their worthless butts out of office ... in the next election.
The SPECIFIC issue and concern was/is the impatient call to somehow overturn the results of the last election with some direct action, in a way that contravenes the laws and Constitution we patriots revere. Its a contradiction. Its also a pipedream and a dangerous one at that and has ALREADY been used by others to cast Freepers as wackos.
There have been hundreds of Tea Party type protests across the nation. They have been peaceful and stunningly patriotic and in the best spirit of America. I hope and pray the 9/12 march is as well, and does the conservative and liberty movement proud.
Thanks stockpirate.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT, JIMROB! WE NEED EVERYONE WHO CAN POSSIBLY MAKE IT, TO COME TO WASHINGTON, DC FROM 9/11-9/13!
I have read so many posts on this thread from Freepers who have NOT booked a room at the Sheraton, and have NOT purchased a Freeper Convention ticket, but they said they are coming to the 9/12 March on DC.
Here's hoping those FReepers mean what they say and say what they mean! If so, we will see more room bookings and more ticket sales and even more FReepers at our National Tea Party Convention!
I hope it doesn't turn out that lots of Freepers are all talk and no action!
A PEACEFUL 9/12 TEA PARTY MARCH ON DC IS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE! OUR VOICES WILL BE HEARD AND WE WILL SERVE NOTICE ON ALL IN THE GOVERNMENT THAT WE WILL DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION!
Don’t panic.
Organize. Demonstrate. Be smart. Be responsible. Do not panic.
We shall overcome . . .
The interim Chief Executive should be someone extremely sensitive to the moral principles of liberty, able to put all personal ambition aside.
Sounds good! (calling my fairy god mother right now to discuss this)
My 9 yo granddaughter will be in DC with me.
I’m anticipating a peaceful protest but with enough voices shouting “ENOUGH”, that we cannot be ignored.
See everyone (all 5 million of you) in DC on 9/12.
We Freepers are God loving, country loving, family loving and law-biding patriots! And above all we are strong and peaceful!
We will defend our Constitution and have a good time too!
I don't know what post you read, but Jim Rob's didn't advocate any sort of "fantasy".
I really pity you for being so cowed that you can't even confront standing with fellow patriots in peaceful assembly, to demand that our government be restored to its proper constitutional form.
You've obviously not been watching the breakneck speed with which the congressional Democrats and Obama have been transforming this nation into a totalitarian Marxist state, if you believe that we have time to build grassroots coalitions at the local electoral level.
The Titanic is sinking, and you want to form a committee to discuss who should represent us at the planning session for the next disaster preparedness exercise.
McVeigh wasn’t millions of angry people waving signs and protesting peacefully.
Apples and oranges...
Well, of course, technically, they ARE acting with our consent.
The problem is, if I may draw an analogy, it's sort of like when one goes to a restaurant and hands the car keys to an attendant to park ones car.
When you hand the keys over you have given "consent" -- and TRUST -- to the attendant to park your car: not go for a joy ride all over the city and use your gas to do it!
So we need to find responsible and TRUSTWORTHY government servants to empower: through the election process.(brings up the philosopher, Diogenes, searching for an honest man)
Now, in lieu of finding AND electing such trustworthy individuals, what recourse do the people have but to remove the bums and "elect" themselves? -- if you know what I mean!
Of course, the above action even if "successful" can easily -- as history has often shown -- lead to societal chaos, followed by a worse dictatorship than the one that the people were originally facing.
Therefore, such recourse should ONLY be taken after exhausting all other PEACEFUL avenues of redress.
Having said that, I'm not sure Jim's Premises are wrong... it's just a mater of at what point do 'the people' throw the switch.
In the mean time the case for real change in government needs to be articulated to the American people.
A mass -- PEACEFUL -- rally, may be just the thing to illustrate just how many Americans share vital constitutional concerns about our present leadership.
