Attack On Iran To Include Ground Forces
International Analyst Network ^

Posted on 07/18/2009 4:02:58 AM PDT by Fennie

An eventual attack on Iran may include ground forces. Units of Sayeret Matka"1 ("Headquarters Scouts", Israel's elite special forces) have been transferred to the mock in Biq'at Hayareach ("Moon Vale"), not far from Eilat.

They have spent the last few weeks training there: parachuting, paragliding, urban warfare, and hand to hand combat.

Special emphasis is placed on explosives. The area is isolated (it got its name from its eerie similarity to the moonscape), but various civilian suppliers have reported massive explosions during the day.

Sapper insertion into Iran.

Wouldn’t that be dangerous for the Sayaret Matkal commandos?

Unless they can do kung fu moves, it should be limited to air raids and seaborne missile strikes.

Indead, it is dangerous for the Israeli commandos.

Normaly, they do not come back from this mission.

They have no other choice.

Hate to be an Israeli soldier caught by Iran after an Israeli attack on Irans nuke facilities.

Use air power and bomb the crap out of Iran.

The most important issue by such an action is the matter of the right timing.

It’s a suicide mission for the commandos.

If they are to be sent to their final mission, alive, all they can do before that is say their last prayers together.

Use air power and bomb the crap out of Iran. The nuke plants and SAM sites will be the targets.

Spec-Ops may be physically on “the ground”, but it’s not “Ground Forces” in the actual meaning.

Of course it is a suicide mission.

With enough explosives the commandos can blow up the doors of the underground bunkers, but they do not have enough time to come out.

They’ll need to have search and rescue flights out of somewhere. Will Obambi give the OK?

And what about enough ammo for a 15 minute firefight, you know, kill the guards, maintenance staff and the nuclear wizards and blow the reactors with C4?

The emergency exits would be blocked, disabling any escape attempt. Communication systems would be disabled to prevent word of the Israeli strikes reaching Tehran. All the guards, maintenance staff and nuclear scientists will be slaughtered and the equipment wired with C4 and destroyed.

Sayeret Matkal is an elite special forces unit of the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). Its main roles are counter-terrorism, deep reconnaissance and intelligence gathering, but the unit is first and foremost a field intelligence-gathering unit, used to obtain strategic intelligence behind enemy lines. If they can get them into the country, then they can get them out of the country. These guys went into Syria looking for that nuke site, that the Israeli Air force later blew to kingdom come. They will have no problems in Iran.

yes but Syria “shares” a border with Israel. Iran does not
.nor is the targed area anywhere near by the sea or something. so i really do not see the slightest chance how they could get out alive once Iran is on full allert. I think even the pilots of the attacking fighters have a Fat chance that many of them will never see Israel again. but ground troops? (even if they are highly capable special forces). i don´t think it would be possible to survive this.

seems it would have been better timing had Israel gone after Iran while they had a sympathetic president Bush in office instead of this poser in chief.
I would not be surprised to see Obammy enforce Iraqi airspace against Israeli jets.

While it may be a suicide mission, I wouldn't count on them being dead - they have some awesome warriors, as do we, and it is like pitting a Pop Warner team against an NFL team.

If it does turn out to be a suicide mission, you can believe that they understand the saying, "If there is nothing you are willing to die for, then you have nothing to live for."

The Lord watches over His children.
