I always thought that a ground commando raid would have to complement an air campaign if only because the IDF thinks “outside the box”. There are also advantages to have ground troops “lasing the target” for precision airstrikes.
And hey, if the Israelis DON’T do it, they have given the Iranians something to think about. They are already paranoid about anti-regime forces operating in the hinterlands. Imagine what Tehran is thinking right now?
