NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Michigan became the first state in 25 years to suffer an unemployment rate exceeding 15%, according to a report released Friday by the government.
The state's unemployment rate rose to 15.2% in June. It was the highest of any state since March 1984, when West Virginia's unemployment rate exceeded 15%.
Friday's report from the U.S. Labor Department also showed that unemployment topped 10% in 14 other states and the District of Columbia.
Over the month, jobless rates increased in 38 states and the District of Columbia. Unemployment rates decreased in 5 states and 7 states had no rate change.

Failure!
The real figures are higher.
Underemployment and pay cuts are not factored in.
And yet they keep electing democrats, thanks to the little blue pockets within this otherwise red state. Any chance Ted Nugent can run for governor?
How’s that hope and change doing for ya, Michigan? Pretty soon, even the State-owned media is going to have to look themselves in the eye and ask, “WTF have we done?”
All you 0bamaunists out there - how's the messiah's socialism working out for you?
“You’re gonna be blown away.” - Jennifer Granholm.
‘bout time for all the Obamorons in MI to start hoping it changes back..
To the Good people of Michigan who have to suffer because all of the leftist loons up there, you have my sympathy.
Yes We Did! Yes We Did! Yes We Did! Yes We Did! Yes We Did!
Yeah, that's the answer!
"Hope and Change Michigan!
Hope and Change!"
I believe Michigan measures this against the “Lions Index” (LI). As long as the unemployment rate stays below the total number of Lions’ losses in a year, they still have hope for recovery.
What is sad is that they are succeeding if statism is their goal.
Not to attempt to hijack the thread, but there’s a couple of guys at my job who voted for Obama asking me where their homebuyer’s bonus was. They both bought houses this year and were expecting some kind of Obama-backed refund or something.
Now, I don’t know much about this bonus, but when I asked them about it, they’d tell me, “Obama passed it just a few months ago.”
My reply:
“How’s that hope and change working out for you?”
To the Citizens Inmates of Michigan,
How is that "CHANGE" working out....
You do live in a All Democrat State.
I Spoke with a fellow Michigander last night. The real numbers do not include; those that have given up, and those working part-time under-employed to generate cash flow.
I am not sure wher my friend got his numbers, but he said real unemployment is at 22%.
Yep, that noise you hear is the dominoes falling.
The Libs/Progressives don't understand how quick the dominoes can fall.
“home buyer’s bonus.” That’s funny.
