Reactions to Sarah Palins decision to resign the governorship of Alaska have been a reminder of her unmatched ability to elicit strong emotions from friend and foe alike. We know some of the reasons why. Its her evangelical Christianity and her folksy manner. Its her small-town roots and her new feminism.
But there is something more. A year ago, Palin gave birth to her youngest son, Trig, who has Down syndrome. Since then, mother and son have become objects of the lefts unrelenting scorn and the rights unflinching fidelity.
An underexamined reason why Palin is loved and loathed so fiercely is her intimate association with two of our most divisive issues: disability and the right to life.
In her resignation statement, Palin suggested her decision was due in part to her familys reaction to personal attacks against Trig. Those comments stoked the rage of the Palin-haters. At Talking Points Memo, an article sarcastically suggested that Palin resigned because she wants to spread Down syndrome ... because Down syndrome is just too cute to be reserved for one in 800 births.
A Paliban Daily article titled Sarah Palins Retarded Platform: More Trigs! interpreted Palins outspokenness on disability rights as a political ploy to win votes. Other articles contained subtle but unmistakable eugenic overtones.

No we’re not. Obamber is a judgment from God.
I made the mistake of checking out the comments section at Politico..

Great, Points, Libertee!
I agree whole-heartedly.
Or an old family curse: “May the fleas of ten thousand camels walk on their “genitals”!
Here is a libertarian writing about Trig.
‘Palin’s Down syndrome child and the right to abortion’
“Like many, I am troubled by the implications of Alaska governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s decision to knowingly give birth to a child disabled with Down syndrome. Given that Palin’s decision is being celebrated in some quarters, it is crucial to reaffirm the morality of aborting a fetus diagnosed with Down syndrome (or by extension, any unborn fetus)a freedom that anti-abortion advocates seek to deny.”

“ At Noodlefood, Diana Hsieh condemns such a stand as “the worship of retardation.” Given that Palin had complete foreknowledge of her child’s severe disability yet nevertheless chose to have it, it is hard not to see her choice as anything less.”

Provenzo is a Objectivist, i.e. a follower of Ayn rand, not a Libertarian.

I just hope people will choose to pray4trig(.com) instead of just complaining about how liberals would rather have killed him.
