If Palin Derangement Syndrome-afflicted media members thought the Alaska Governor's surprising pre-Fourth of July announcement meant she was getting out of politics, her op-ed in Tuesday's Washington Post should change their minds.
In a scathing rebuke of the Obama administration, Sarah Palin took off the gloves to attack the recently House-passed American Clean Energy and Security Act, disaffectionately known as cap-and-tax.
Marvelously, Palin also took a couple of jabs at her not so adoring press:
Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:
I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.
American prosperity has always been driven by the steady supply of abundant, affordable energy. Particularly in Alaska, we understand the inherent link between energy and prosperity, energy and opportunity, and energy and security. Consequently, many of us in this huge, energy-rich state recognize that the president's cap-and-trade energy tax would adversely affect every aspect of the U.S. economy.
There is no denying that as the world becomes more industrialized, we need to reform our energy policy and become less dependent on foreign energy sources. But the answer doesn't lie in making energy scarcer and more expensive! Those who understand the issue know we can meet our energy needs and environmental challenges without destroying America's economy.
Job losses are so certain under this new cap-and-tax plan that it includes a provision accommodating newly unemployed workers from the resulting dried-up energy sector, to the tune of $4.2 billion over eight years. So much for creating jobs.
In addition to immediately increasing unemployment in the energy sector, even more American jobs will be threatened by the rising cost of doing business under the cap-and-tax plan. For example, the cost of farming will certainly increase, driving down farm incomes while driving up grocery prices. The costs of manufacturing, warehousing and transportation will also increase.
The ironic beauty in this plan? Soon, even the most ardent liberal will understand supply-side economics.
Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark...likely on many of her detractors, assuming, of course, they get the joke.
That said, readers are encouraged to review the entire piece, and ponder just how this is going to play at Palin-hating media outlets the next 48 hours.
You have got to be mistaken. There is no way Sarah ever supported Cap & Tax
Also, Global Warming had pretty much won over the political classes a year ago. Newt cracked, Bush cracked, pretty much all of them had cracked. Only a few of us (most Freepers) where yelling Bull Sh*t! Prior to last winter. Now after the winters of 07-08, 08-09 and after a lot of REAL science the fraud of Man Made Global Warming has at last been exposed. Warming? Maybe. Carbon generated? No. Man Made? Hell no.
Bad, very very bad idea. The LAST thing she needs is the label of (right wing) Radio Talk Show Host. Former State Governor sounds way better.
Let's be honest. Cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. Even if implemented, it would have a negligible impact on the climate according to the global warming nuts' own calculations. This is all about power and giving the government more control over our daily lives. It is a power grab using the global warming hoax as a pretext.

Some people think that our planet is suffering from a fever. Now scientists are telling us that Mars is experiencing its own planetary warming: Martian warming. It seems scientists have noticed recently that quite a few planets in our solar system seem to be heating up a bit, including Pluto.
NASA says the Martian South Pole’s “ice cap” has been shrinking for three summers in a row. Maybe Mars got its fever from earth. If so, I guess Jupiter’s caught the same cold, because it’s warming up too, like Pluto.
This has led some people, not necessarily scientists, to wonder if Mars and Jupiter, non signatories to the Kyoto Treaty, are actually inhabited by alien SUV-driving industrialists who run their air-conditioning at 60 degrees and refuse to recycle.
Silly, I know, but I wonder what all those planets, dwarf planets and moons in our SOLAR system have in common. Hmmmm. SOLAR system. Hmmmm. Solar? I wonder. Nah, I guess we shouldn’t even be talking about this. The science is absolutely decided. There’s a consensus.
How old was that, because new data is showing that the earth is COOLING over the past decade plus.
But seriously supporting capping carbon emmissions at some unknown level, some time in the future, is quite a bit diferent then supporting Obama's Cap and Trade bill sitting in the Senate right now.
That was about 4 years ago, right before the cooling trend was detected, remember there had been a verifiable warming trend for a number of years.
Which just goes to show you that no predictions about future “climate” can be based on present conditions.
Uh, unless I am "greatly" mistaken, her article WAS about the issues, and in fact about one of the most critical issues. If Palin continues to address the issues in this way, and the mass media focuses only on her (supposed) foibles, it is NOT Palin who will lose credibility.
The “/s” in the original post is pretty standard forum shorthand for “sarcasm ends here”.
And I just saw your post where you finally noticed it.
Movement conservatives need a source for her actual views, so they can email rebuttals to lib relatives and friends.

That was a great op-ed. Too back she can’t run for President.

The media is already calling Sarah a “Know Nothing” on Cap N Trade. Now that Sarah is publicly against Cap N Trade, the Far Left will double its pressure on wary Dem Senators to pass it.
That'd be a TERRIFIC sound! ;)
