I'm scheduled to be on MSNBC this afternoon to talk about the controversy over the pulled Free Republic thread about Malia Obama.
The segment should air live around 3:30 p.m. EDT barring any breaking news, etc.
David Shuster and Tamran Hall will be co-hosting the segment.
I'm heading out the door in a few minutes.
VIDEO: Free Republic's Kristinn Taylor Spars With Shuster Over Malia Thread
Yep, you're probably right.
Just watched the video. You did an excellent job, Kristinn! Funny how the left-wing MSNBC host automatically says “not like these!” when you told him that offensive comments are seen far more often on left-wing websites. You should have asked him when they last had a rep from one of those sites on their show to explain and/or apologize for offensive comments made by individual posters. The Huffington Post, DailyKos, DemocraticUnderground are all consistently worse in this regard.
I am still stunned that the President of the United States allowed his minor child, major minor at 11 to wear such a shirt out in public.
I know these new PEACE shirts are the new rage in the 10-13 set...I have a daughter who loves the symbol but too niave to understand the implications.
My daughter is also a private citizen amongst her little friends with no cameras recording their every move.
Shame on the Obamas for allowing this...and liberals should be just as ashamed.
Read the transcript. You done good. Thank you for doing it.
Come on, he didnt swing so much that I even noticed.
@@@@@
Yes, he did, and my money is on a subtle sabotage by the asst producers who gave him a swivel chair, knowing that a non-professional using a remote feed camera is going to be slightly nervous, no matter how calm the outward demeanor; and that the nervousness may get expressed by an unconscious body movement.
No doubt about that in my mind.
You have to admit that the parents are still in charge of her wardrobe... there are some things I would not allow my children to wear, depending on the event. On the other hand, I didn't allow the peace symbol in my house because of the historical significance of it. The kids didn't mind. I just have to keep pointing out that it was the parent's decision to allow her to wear them even if the article says she picked it out. OK, I promise to stop rehashing it.
MAGNIFICENT, kristinn!!!
I'm glad that you brought up the Palin family, and the way the left has been hammering her and her family for the last 11 months. That certainly takes the wind out of their accusation, I'd say.
bump!
“Kos burned Parry.”
+++++++++++++
Problem is Perry is Kos (in part.) But yeah, he’s got lots of factual inaccuracies in his hit piece - from not checking through what happened with pulling multiple threads (claiming the admins put it back up again), to claiming that thread as representative of the whole 300,000+ FR community. Of course that doesn’t even begin to touch on his conflict of interest, nor his complete hypocrisy for saying vile, sick vulgar things HIMSELF for crying out loud. [see Laura Bush head crushing comment: http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2006/3/25/123845/796/16#c16]
He’s got tons of crazy posts over there:

“Thank goodness thats over. Kristinn did well, but Ill still need to bleach my television.”
LOL! Thanks all for the recap...don’t have that MSNBC crap on my TV either...I’m on DISH...Fox comes standard but not PMSNBC thankfully. Like the poster said above about not ever caring - same for me - lol!
Good video.
You did well under the circumstances.
But when he started pushing you to discuss levels of censorship on the site I think you fell for a trap. Time will tell on that, but a trap.
“now hes proven false...by his accusations about the thread being pulled, put back etc.”
+++++++++++++++
Hey Chris, you wanted to know what was factually inaccurate about your hit piece...what was intellectually dishonest!
“He slammed FR right in the intro. Why did kristinn even bother to appear? It was just an attempt to make FR look bad. I think FR should try and avoid these set-up jobs in the future. Now the damage is done. They got their FR slam in there, probably to people who have never even heard of FR. Was it worth it to appear? I dont think so.”
++++++++++++++++
It’s a legit question. I think it’s always good to engage. Whichever conservative politicians succeed in the future - Reagan style - will also have to engage the loony left. However, I wish it were CNN, which is watched slightly more broadly than the RATS channel PMSNBC.
Do you think it would have been worth it on CNN? CNN would have probably also had to ‘try’ to look objective - whereas these bozos and Parry don’t even have to try.
“Werent many of the comments attributed to Chris Parry the author of the Vancouver Sun article that started this mess”
+++++++++++
There is some controversy about that. At least some of the nasty comments were made by a couple people that still post here. One joined in April 2009, one in Jan. 2008. But again, however ill advised it is to take pot shots at Malia, or any politician’s kid, they do not represent the broader FR community, nor can the admins police all 300,000 in real time...that’s absurd and that’s sort of the expectation from the loony Mr. Parry, I think.
“Im surprised they allowed Kristinn to even appear; its more like MSNBC to just spew uncontested lies.”
++++++++++++
No doubt, kind of a shock, hey?
