Well, should've seen this coming: conservative blog Free Republic fired hate speech off at Malia Obama after this photo of her appeared, letting their commenters go to town. But the journalist who reported this as news isn't innocent, either.
Chris Parry of The Vancouver Sun highlighted some of the comments on the mainstream, hard right-wing blog/news aggregator Free Republic. Among them, a picture of Michelle talking to Malia Obama with the caption: "To entertain her daughter, Michelle Obama loves to make monkey sounds." Classy. These mouthbreathing, borderline morons then kept piled on:
"A typical street whore." "A bunch of ghetto thugs." "Ghetto street trash." "Wonder when she will get her first abortion. "Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there?" wrote one commenter. "They make me sick .... The whole family... mammy, pappy, the free loadin' mammy-in-law, the misguided chillin', and especially 'lil cuz... This is not the America I want representin' my peeps," wrote another. Such was the onslaught of derision on the site that the person who originally complained about the slurs, a Kristin N., claims only one comment in the first hundred posted actually criticized the remarks as inappropriate.
FreeRepublic claims to be a site that "does not advocate or condone racism, violence, rebellion, secession, or an overthrow of the government." Yet, the thread went down, and back up with the original comments in tact, and then some, notes Chris Parry, the story's writer. Parry was careful and kind enough to - maybe unnecessarily - note the few reasonable voices in the crowd who were conservative, on Free Republic, and not racist. But there're always going to be a few exceptions to the rule, which, as far as you should be concerned, are absolute swamp creatures. Pardon any political incorrectness, but I think you'll agree if you happen to go over and dip your toe in what's mostly a bog of contagiously slimy invective and general retardation.
It gets worse, though. Chris Parry, it appears, has advocated on his Daily Kos blog any number of egregious offenses, among them: posting hate speech on sites like Free Republic and blaming it on conservatives. Parry posted under the name "hollywoodoz" on Daily Kos, where his signature was "Fool me once, I'll punch you in the fucking head." Parry outed himself as hollywoodoz here, where he discloses the company he helped start. In essence: Parry, the journalist, found his story right where he'd been circling it for a very long time, and reported it as news. Sigh.
Bottom line: Parry's noble intentions are paving him a road to hell, by taking the same one the slimeball majority at Free Republic employs. They're probably going to cheer a "mainstream," centrist blog pointing out the offenses of a liberal reporter trying to expose hate speech, but they shouldn't get it mixed up. A quick glance at Free Republic and you'll probably see the same thing I did: some of the most egregious examples that lend credence to the idea that some people just shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard, or to open their mouths, no matter what their political affiliation. Or, as some would have it: STFU.

I think that’s all of the conservative women.
Oh...that’s just lovely.
I trust that one is gone from this site.
Thanks!
It happened, but I guess I bailed off the thread before the worst comments quoted took place.
I have been a long time reader of FR (8 years). This is my first post.
I have never read a more educated, funny, honest bunch of people in all my life. You guys are the best.
Just in the past few months I have noticed more and more trolls invading this space. Remember Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals #13: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.
What mental midgets operate "GAWKER" anyway? WTF kind of "expose" is this supposed to be by a website that has links with SH*T in two of the four titles??
What kind of website calls the HuffingtonPost "just used to aggregating the news of others...they're a news site, and this is news, and it's their job to - at the very least - provide some kind of context for this kind of thing."
The PuffingtonHost is NOT A NEWS SITE! It's nothing more than a giant cesspool for THE absolute worst verbalizations that the Left has to offer. They make Daily Kos seem like Mother Theresa's blog. And, speaking of blogs, FR is not one of them.
Can anyone tell me, Yes or No, "Did Parry PLANT THE SAME, RACIST REMARKS HE'S USING TO BLAME FR? which the author claims is one of his tricks?
If it was not Parry, then who left them? Or were they even left at all?
This is one of the most confusing posts I've ever read.
The purse story is erroneous. The bag maker claimed they recognized the purse from a photo but later had to retract on the style. The bag was still expensive (several hundred dollars) but it wasn’t the $5K one.
The internet is alive, constantly changing, learning, and having a profound effect on the world around us. To abandon it makes no sense.
Worse than that:
KOS creeps plant fake “racist” posts here, and then scream about the racist posts that they planted.
There are scads of “troublemakers” here at FR. Some are just hateful people, some are trolls, some are plants, some are just stupid, or immature and ignorant. Most threads about current events get a few ridiculous comments that perhaps should sometimes be pulled. Generally I just ignore them as I got tired of arguing with jerks a long time ago. For the most part those people are not interested in becoming smarter or nicer.
I saw the Malia thread and it was ridiculous. In fact in retrospect there were so many over the top comments (not the usual FR ‘caption this’ snide remarks) that it may well have been a concerted effort. Especially since the same terms were used repeatedly and there were several racist comments that were really out there. The thread was a bit of an anomaly- I’ve been on many of the M.O. fashion threads and there have not been anything like the Malia thread. Many of the bad comments didn’t make a lot of sense in that the girl was just wearing shorts and a t-shirt, nothing special. The media deciding to make a big deal over the kid’s choice of t-shirt if anything was what should have been criticized.
Sounds like the old
“Well, even if the documents were fake, the story was true”
-— line that they tried to use with Dan Rather!
Wow. DO NOT click on the source. My computer froze up, probably from trying to stop malware, spyware, and God knows what else. Anyway, I wouldn’t give this simple pantload “Foster Kamer” and his site any hits.
Huh?
This stuff was posted by a Democrat/liberal vandal, a libel and slander merchant.
There is no reason for us to take the blame for the left.
Bump Dat...
what is this intellectual sloth talking about?
Comments that anyone would fin offensive are zot’d pretty quick.
+1
We - all Freepers - are Emmanuel Goldstein. Some just haven’t realized it yet.
the connection aborts...after a few seconds.
Thanks for the correction! I hate to repeat misconceptions.
For even a few hundred in a good thrift shop (as I am sure there are in D.C.), with a minimal sense of taste and fashion, I could still dress pretty darned well.
I am sure most anyone who so desired could do so also.
Good comments!
I would urge the FReeper community to aovid using off-color language if only to separate our posts from the endless stream of epithets coming from the Left.
IMHO, the Left would be severely handicapped (more than they already are) if they were restricted from using any foul language.
Does anyone remember that troll named Koyann, aka Steve, aka K. from last year? The one that would always go postal over everything I wrote?
Besides getting repeatedly booted from FR, he up and quit two or three forums just because they would not allow him to use his foul mouth.
He is the poster child for the Left’s language.
