Out of Alaska - Palin on why she resigned and what it means for her future (golden quotes)
The Weekly Standard ^ | July 20, 2009 | Matthew Continetti

Posted on 07/11/2009 1:06:16 PM PDT by SolidWood

In early July, while most Americans were preparing for a long weekend of celebratory parades, charred meats, and noisy fireworks, Sarah Palin made some plans of her own. The Alaska governor had been the object of endless media attention and assorted calumnies since she became John McCain's vice presidential nominee last August. Now she wanted to try something new. So, on July 3, in a speech delivered from her home on Lake Lucille in Wasilla, Palin told her constituents that not only would she not seek a second term, but she would also be transferring authority to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell on July 26, abdicating her office with about 18 months left to go. The announcement, as one might expect, received global press coverage, dominated the weekend headlines, and gave stories about the late Michael Jackson a run for their money. Meantime, the political world went into sustained convulsions.

The fierce reaction surprised Palin. She is acutely aware of what the media and her opponents say about her. She heard some people say that the timing of her speech was odd. Not so. "Independence Day is so significant to me--it's sort of a way for me to illustrate that I want freedom for Alaskans to progress, and for me personally," she told me during a telephone interview on July 9. Others said the motivation for her resignation was not clear. "I'm like, 'Holy Jeez, I spoke for 20 minutes' " giving reasons, she said. Bloggers conjectured that a horrible scandal was looming over her. Nope. Palin says she even heard a rumor that she resigned because pornographic pictures of her were about to hit the Internet. This left her bemused. "Between which pregnancies did I get to pose for those?" she said sarcastically.

Love the last sentence:

The obsession is sure to intensify. Be prepared. Hurricane Sarah is about to descend on the Lower 48.

Absolutely...she is scaring the crap out of the left...and the center...RINOs will be more dangerous to her, I think...we need to let them know we are watching their worthless hides and if they want to jump ship like Shincter did, now is the time...they won’t be feeding at the trough anymore...

They attack her so terribly, because their fear of her is directly proportional to that fear.

Now, Sarah has initiated a brilliant flanking manuever and counter attack against the left, the DNC, and the MSM (and throw the RINOs in there for good measure) that has them all in a frenzy wondering what her next move will be and how it will be perceived...and has them frothing at the mouth in their efforts to discredit her.

But, their efforts will come to naught as Sarah gets her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disaster and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

The Weekly Standard (except for Fred Barnes) is very pro-Palin. Bill Kristol was a Palin supporter from day one (he met her on a cruise before she was picked) and has consistently spoken out in defense of her.

“Between which pregnancies did I get to pose for these?”
Ya gotta admit, our Sarah is priceless.
The more they attack her , the more powerful and popular
she gets——they must know this, or are they SOOOOOO dumb
they think they STILL have a chance of destroying her?
Don’t they know that WE will come out and destroy THEM?
I just hope that in Sarah’s slow and uncertain climb over the next year or so, the cards are played right, and Sarah comes out on top. It will depend to an important degree on how much Obama and his crew generally disgrace themselves in the next year, which will come down to a contest between Reality and the Truth, up against White House and MSM propaganda, but Sarah can come out on top and be the next nominee and WINNER of the Presidency. I HAVE NO DOUBT!

There are so many golden quotes in the article...

Best article i’ve seen on the subject, well written, still sort of disagree with her on this one tho, but at least this article offers some context.
