Washington Times Has Now Updated Title from "EXCLUSIVE: Palin to stump for conservative Democrats"
Washington Times ^ | July 12, 2009 | Ralph Z. Hallow

ANCHORAGE, Alaska | Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray — stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats — after she prematurely vacates her elected post at month's end.

The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP's base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla — population 7,000 — where she began her political career.

> There are 31 pro-life Democrats in the House.

Do they EVER vote against the Party of Death? EVER?

Or are they good little boys and girls that go along to get along?

Stumping to keep Obama’s veto proof majority? Wonderful.

Your concern is valid.

That said I can't think of one Democrat in the Senate and the House who shares her values on "limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."

Can you?

"You sound like a hard core GOP groin leech. Since you’re new I suggest you go take a gander at the FR homepage and find where it says that FR is a republican site."

Not only is campaigning for Democrat, no matter how they choose to describe themselves, NOT conservative, it's not very politically savvy either. And, like most of the Palinphiles, I see you avoid the central thesis of my point, and resort to name calling and messenger attacks. Which, tells me my point is even that much more valid.

Bully someone else. I'm not biting.

Zell Miller.

You have to read her actual comments, not just the headline.

She said she’ll stump for ANYONE sharing her beliefs. If there are no such democrats... end of story.

But there are democrats CLAIMING to their constituents that they are conservative (”Blue dogs”). There are quite a number of them. If they reject Palin (which they certainly will), she’ll be able to peel off their voters for GOP candidates.

It’s a win-win for Conservatives.

Reagan was a real pro at stepping outside the party to talk directly to the people. When he spoke to the Soviets, he spoke directly to the citizens. When he spoke to the unions, he spoke directly to the members. He didn’t lie to them, he said what he believed and many many people came to trust him.

Sarah Palin appears to be taking this same approach. There are a handfull of others out there who do the same but Palin is the one who gets the media attention.

“Excellent move. Excellent tactic.”

Agree wholeheartedly with all of your various comments and what Sarah is doing.

She’s true to her ideals and principles. And it’s politically brilliant.

Puts the elitist GOP bosses and pundits on notice.

Encourages the Reagan Democrats, Blue Dogs, PUMAS and Independents to abandon their party / support her if it turns out the GOP elites are in fact willing to crater the party rather than support and promote its most gifted, charismatic and principled leader, Sarah Palin. And in that case the independent, patriotic, non-partisan, non-elitist political movement is in full force and has the latent power to bring both establishment parties to their knees.

It’s the Republic (not the party) that is at issue.

"those who share her ideas and values, regardless of party"

Any one who shares her populist agenda, whether that be cultural populists who tend to be republicans or economic populists who tend to be democrats.

She lost weight....STRESS!

LOL - Wishful thinking on your part. If she allowed herself to become stressed then she'd be much more wrinkled than she is, which isn't at all as far as I can tell. Perhaps she's just been working out more than usual. Unlike those out of shape lumps in D.C., President-To-Be-Elected Palin is in excellent physical condition.

No, stumping to show herself committed to issues. Remember, she has always said, “........, whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat or of no party at all, .........” And she’s changing the rules of the game. She has apparently read a book called The Thumpin’, some kind of a companion tome to Rules for Radicals, and has learned to live the anti-The Thumpin’. Good for her.

Consider, also, that it will rile up the ultra-leftist, America-hating base of the Dumb party and cause fissures therein. The persons might abandon the party and reduce its members to only bipedal mammals. There are still entirely too many of them, but any start is a good one.

"Anybody know how many Democrat congressman are pro-life?"

Who cares? Those same Democrat congressman vote for House and Senate leadership that kills every piece of pro-life legislation that comes before committee. To compound matters, they also vote to confirm judges that will overturn every piece of pro-life legislation that comes before their docket.

I don't care how a Democrat campaigns to their constituency, I care how they act in Congress - and all Democrats act like pro-abortion sycophants in DC.
