ANCHORAGE, Alaska | Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray — stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats — after she prematurely vacates her elected post at month's end.
The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP's base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."
"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla — population 7,000 — where she began her political career.

Nah, I think she still has her eyes on taking back the Republican Party just the way Reagan did—but she’s going to do it on her terms and she’s going to need some conservative Democrats and independents to get it done.

Sarah will never be elected to anything without a healthy Republican party. That is a FACT. The Republican party is in far better shape than many on FR want to believe. Right now we have a very solid conservative base on which to build. We need to build upon it. Sarah could have an enormous effect but not by stumping for RATs.
The Republican establishment is no different than the democrat establishment. I hate the Republican establishment and I suspect there are a lot of democrats who hate the Democrat establishment.
No, Reagan was a conservative masquerading as populist.
Back then, the cultural populists were at odds with the democrats and they were brought out of the democratic party into the republican party in two waves.
The first wave was under Nixon's southern strategy and the second wave was under Reagan's "morning in America"(evangelical) and "shining city on the hill"(Puritan).
In the 70s GHW Bush was the head of the Texas Republican party and failed at implementing Nixon's southern strategy because he was a northern republican elitist. That was also a problem for him as a presidential candidate. Texas didn't flip republican until Reagan.
Anyway that GOP coalition between cultural populists and economic elitists is over and a new GOP coalition is sorely needed. How about a coalition between NeoCons(McCain) and cultural populists(Palin)?
The Republican party is dead as a national organization, and I hope SP and her people know it.
The sooner the GOP is given a decent burial, the sooner we can get started.
Personally, I've had it with party labels. Our founding fathers warmed us about political parties and they were right. So far I'm with Sarah, as best I can tell she is the only one out there putting country ahead of party. She is also the only one out there with a PROVEN record of being an effective reformer. I'll take Sarah, pimples and all over anyone else by far.

In an interview with the Washington Times, Palin makes her most direct comments yet about Conservativism versus the Republican Party. In my humble opinion, it’s clear the GOP, unfortunately, is lost beyond the point of return. When you’re one year out of key campaigns to take back Congress in 2010 and Meghan McCain is The Oracle of the party, you know it’s over. If Tina Brown thought Ms. McCain’s willingness to be a Useful Idiot for liberals would undermine the conservative movement (and consequently Sarah Palin), she should take a serious and long look at what their attacks on Palin provoked: a stronger, more independent, more determined conservative leader and base.
Enter now Sarah Palin with very encouraging comments that lead one to believe that she is indeed planning to do what she must: build an independent conservative movement and take this nation back from the liberals which now control both parties.Thanks liberals, for provoking Sarah into the national scene while vetting that family at the same time.
One thing I will say, the Washington Times with their headline for this exclusive interview reveal an anti-Palin stance. She is, don’t doubt, a threat to every existing political status quo. I hope the Washington Times and their editors realize, sooner than later, that the Palin movement is unstoppable and their credibility would be saved simply by reporting the news instead of becoming a GOP version of the NYT.
Good point. And Governor Palin won’t acquiesce. She’s out there to promote conservatism and bring others around to her (our) way of thinking.

I believe Gillebrand only really had one vote in the House on 2A and it was some obscure "yes" vote to carry a gun in some obscure national park. My guess is that Pelosi allowed the vote in order that people like Gillabrand could get a misleading 100% rating from 2A advocacy groups.
Also, when Gillabrand talks about 2A she only mentions it as a hunter's right instead of a right to defend against tyranny and anarchy.
She simply is not a party politician, she is an American.
Blessings on her, we need to flush Congress and the House from every single hack that would choose party over people.
They are nothing but a Mafia family, the Republicans and the Democrats alike.

Actually, Fred planned to put Sarah on the ticket if he got the nomination, it’s here on FR somewhere but damned if I can find it, and I look for it all the time.
Focus should be regaining control of the legislature by putting more GOP members in congress.
Next time I receive a donation request from the RNC I’ll send that $50 to the Palin campaign and mail the RNC a photocopy of my check to her.
