Poll: Sarah Palin remains threat to Mitt Romney in potential GOP 2012 race

Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney is locked in a statistical dead heat with Sarah Palin for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, despite the Alaska governor’s abrupt resignation last week, according to a new poll of Republican voters.

Romney leads all Republican presidential contenders, garnering 25 percent of the vote, edging out Palin (24 percent), former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (22) and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (14 percent) in the Rasmussen poll released yesterday.

One way or another Sarah Palin will be a complete factor in the 2012 elections!

A "complete" factor? What is THAT? LOL

She'll be good for fund raising and rallying the base (look at this website for instance) but you need more than the base to win an election. She doesn't seem to have the ability to convince the mushy moderate types to vote for her.

Like it or not (and most of this site won't), just having the base solidified isn't going to be nearly enough against 0 and the liberal machine.

You’ve come on like gangbusters here, and have been too forward. Lay back, observe the FReepers who believe as you do, and participate in their threads until you know the lay of the land. Flamebaiting so early will get you booted. Just try it and see.

Regarding your comment about civil rights, I still suspect trolling. But, I’ll bite. To our country’s great shame, we failed to live up to our own Constitution regarding basic civil rights for all citizens. Our punishment has been the outright marxist cretins, who rode into power on the backs of black people, who only wanted what has always been their due. The great and lasting price we’ve paid has been the complete erosion of freedom of association, as a result. And, that has led and will continue to lead to ever-greater tyranny. We brought it upon ourselves.

You said complete non-factor but I can’t say complete factor?

And yet the MSM and RomneyBOTs purport Romney can fly,
and move locomotives, and bend steel with their bare hands
and who disguised as ....

[from "Mitt Romney as Tarantino's Superman", New Republic]:

"Whereas most superheroes' secret identities (Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker) are their true identities
--the people they were before their parents were murdered or they were bitten by radioactive spiders
or exposed to gamma rays or what have you--Superman was born Superman.
It's Clark Kent that is the invented alias, the pose, the "costume."
And in the way Superman plays Kent--weak, self-doubting, cowardly--
we can see what he thinks of the human race overall.
It occurred to me that the same is true of Mitt Romney's desperate,
if never terribly persuasive, impersonation of a conservative Republican."

So America, why take the Fake superhero, when a real one save this country?

The GOP has been screwed and done for quite some time now.

Agree to a point. The GOP has lacked a solid leader for some time now. If Sarah Palin chooses to revitalize it, it will survive.

Palin doesn't have the juice to do it on her own. NO one since Reagan could do it and she ain't Reagan nor even within spitting distance of him.

If they keep kneecapping her, they will continue to go downhill.

I don't think this is an accurate statement, but whatever. She'll find a way to self-destruct or otherwise marginalize herself (and maybe quitting as Alaska governor was it) long before the primaries start.

I know what a complete non-factor is....what is a complete factor?

Don’t just make things up and think they make sense.

Give it two years and she’ll be a complete non-factor in the 2012 Presidential race.

If she plays her cards right, yes.

Two years will be July 2011.

She should wait until after that to get in the race.

Romney, Newt and Huckabee are already in the race. All she has to do is bid her time and watch them fall by the wayside.

All the time speaking and traveling across the country for the Conservative Cause of course.

More record crowds don'tcha think?

Romney is only in the "race" because his Team backstabs the woman in the race.

HOW ROMNEY IS THAT?

As I said, she's great for rallying the base, but that isn't going to win ANYTHING on a national scale.

You don't win with 35-40%.

BTW I disagree. She has to stay in the headlines at least every month from here until the primaries begin. Had she not quit as governor, she wouldn't have this issue of staying relevant. Instead she quit and a nation that already has Palin exhaustion will be fed more stories about her from the right AND the left.

Gov. Palin is RELEVANT, and all the fake badges of Romney will not help him.

Carpetbagger, backstabber, socialist, DNC-panderer, Mitt ("the Myth") Romney:
Someone shouldn’t be able to just call themselves a doctor without going to medical school.”.

THE REAL DEAL: However, anyone can call themselves "law enforcement officers"
IF they work for Mitt ("the Myth") Romney.

Team Romney aide’s bogus badges: Sources detail ‘illegal’ security tactic

" Boston Herald - Friday, July 20, 2007
In an apparent violation of the law, a controverisal aide to ex-Gov. Mitt Romney
created phony law enforcement badges that he and other staffers used on the campaign trail

to strong-arm reporters, avoid paying tolls and trick security guards
into giving them immediate access to campaign venues, sources told the Herald.
They (the aides) knew the badges were fake and probably illegal,”
said a presidential campaign source who asked for anonymity
because the story could damage the individual’s career.
Two additional sources confirmed that the badges - described as bright silver plates with a state seal attached -
were first created and used by Garrity while Romney was still governor."

Team Romney aide takes leave after accusations

"BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- An ever-present aide to Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney
took a leave of absence Friday after he became the subject of investigations
in two states for allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer. ...

Jay Garrity, who serves as director of operations and is
constantly at the side of the former Massachusetts governor,
is accused of .... identifying himself as "Trooper Garrity" of the Massachusetts State Police..

Meanwhile, Garrity also has been accused of telling a New York Times reporter ....
that he had run the license plate of the reporter's rental car...
New Hampshire law prohibits citizens from accessing the state's license plate database. "

Romney Staff Involved In 2 Investigations

"A Romney campaign aide is also under investigation by police in Massachusetts for allegedly impersonating a state trooper..."

Mitt supporters have actually been his biggest detriment. I could take or leave the guy but find myself rooting for his defeat only after dealing with Romneybots.

Palin doesn't have the juice to do it on her own.

Who said on her own?

What a non-factor of a statement.

She is the only Republican with a base.

That's conservatives in case you missed who supports her.

Back off with the Reagan platatudes and gross references OK?

whatever

Oh nice comeback.

Just ignore the kneecapping.

Catch up.

What's next, the "L" sign at the forehead???

As I put in my first post (knowing that I’d get flamed and that it would be completely IGNORED), Romney isn’t going to be the nominee either.

I don’t care about him, I won’t vote for him and he’s not the answer.

And EX-Governor Palin is relevant now. She has a choice, continue to try to stay in the limelight for the next 2+ years or fade away into political obscurity. My guess is she’ll pick option A and try to stay there.

It won’t help her though IMO.

She is still Governor and open your mind as you seem a little afraid of a woman in power. Don’t hate the playa.
