Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney is locked in a statistical dead heat with Sarah Palin for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, despite the Alaska governor’s abrupt resignation last week, according to a new poll of Republican voters.

Romney leads all Republican presidential contenders, garnering 25 percent of the vote, edging out Palin (24 percent), former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (22) and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (14 percent) in the Rasmussen poll released yesterday.

Romney is such a flip-flopper, I expect him to dump being a Mormon and become both a Born Again Evangelical and Conservative to get votes.

Scarry Stuff!

there is a poll on my yahoo home page just now, about 50/50 :

What's your opinion of Sarah Palin?

Q. The former Alaskan governor's resignation gave her a boost among GOP respondents in a recent USAToday/Gallup poll. Two-thirds of Republicans want her to be "a major national political figure" in the future. The announcement further "dented" her standing with Democrats: Three-fourths hope she does not return to a position of power.

What is your opinion of Sarah Palin?

I have a very positive opinion. I hope she returns to politics. I have mixed feelings. She's talented but flawed. I have a very negative opinion. I hope she does not return to politics. Not sure/No opinion.

Yes, Ronald Reagan was a Goldwater Republican. He turned out rather well, most conservatives would agree.

But, Hillary Rodham was a Goldwater Republican, too.

And, if you don’t know about Goldwater’s descent into moonbattery later in life, well after his Presidential campaign, you don’t know Goldwater.

Romneybots should get a clue...RINOs won’t sell as they did last time (note to Romney: YOU LOST to a media-annointed RINO) and Palin is the biggest threat to BIG GOVERNMENT RINOs and TAX-N-SPEND DUmocrats. If she wasn’t, the media wouldn’t be as “concerned” about her future as they are.

The fact that the media says Romney is “the one” should be a big clue that they are just hoping for a repeat of the last election.

If you lived in Taxachusetts you would understand how anti Romney the feeling is among the more conservative crowd.

A virtual tie with Romney.

And Sarah quit, resigned, is off the stage, has no future, nobody likes her, should not speak, is washed up, has ethic charges, the FBI is investigating her and she has put out a sign that says "Gone Fishin'"

And she is still more popular and effective than Romney and is the Number One contender for President in the 2012 race.

Damn,I wonder what will happen when all that stuff above goes away???

Heh

Mitt won’t be the nominee but neither will Palin.

Give it two years and she’ll be a complete non-factor in the 2012 Presidential race.

One way or another Sarah Palin will be a complete factor in the 2012 elections!

If she is the #1 contender after quitting her governor's job AND given what the national perception of her already was (NOT SAYING THAT I AGREE WITH THAT PERCEPTION BY THE WAY), the GOP is more than screwed, it's done. That's a slam dunk for 0 even with the complete and utter failure his administration will be.

There has to be someone else. Palin will top out at 35-40% at the most.

Actually, Mitt Romney remains a threat to Mitt Romney in the 2012 election cycle.

the GOP is more than screwed, it's done.

The GOP has been screwed and done for quite some time now.

If Sarah Palin chooses to revitalize it, it will survive.

If they keep kneecapping her, they will continue to go downhill.

Been there and done that. Romney had his chance and wilted against crusty McCain when it counted. The future belongs to Palin who will no longer be constrained by the Good Ole Boys.
