Incidentally, I think Rasmussen’s headline is full of bunk, but I got nailed yesterday for writing my own headline.

If Romney is the GOP’s candidate, I’m am off the reservation. I’d rather have an enemy I know in the White House than a false friend.

It is misleading, because while this is the “first pick/last pick” thing, her approve is extremely high, while her disapprove is extremely low. In other words, even for those who don’t have her as their first choice, they still approve of her.

I agree, but by the same token check out Mike Huckabee!

I think the point is that she is highly polarized at this point. If you like her, you really like her and if you don’t you likely won’t vote for her.

Romney would be the death of the Republican party. A re-run of the Bush years.

Myth Romney could probably get another point or two if he marched in another gay pride parade before the next poll.

Mitt Romney 25% 39% 73% 19% 5% 9%

Sarah Palin 24% 45% 76% 21% 9% 21%

....................................................

If Sarah Palin was asked to choose the top row or the 2nd row, I betcha she would choose the 2nd.

I say the 2nd row are the better numbers by far...margin of error from 24 to 25, come on...She slams Romney on the 2nd number approval.

Remember that Mitt’s numbers are before he comes out of the closet.

For the life of me, I cannot comprehend this attitude.

You'll honestly sit through and watch as your country is reduced to 3rd world status with a racist Constitution-hating Socialist in the White House and feel GOOD about it, because, "Whew! At least it's not ROMNEY in there!"

Y'all are just nuts.

Here’s an interesting question: Which candidate might be the liberal trick, the one that the liberals vote for or promote through the news media, like they did for John McCain? Mitt Romney is the most likely to be a closet liberal, but he’s also probably the best debater, and most knowledgeable. (We’ll see if Palin sets up a University of National Politics for herself; I’m in no way suggesting she can’t become most knowledgeable by 2012.) Would the liberals vote for someone in the primary who they probably would see as most electable? Would they vote for Huckabee as the most beatable of the big three? I’m going to guess they would be too afraid to vote for Palin; even though they might genuinely think she’s beatable, they’d also be too afraid she might win. Answers to the first question or Disagreements with my presumptions are most welcome!

I think it would be interesting to see the internals on this poll of GOP voters.

I would like to have it broken down by 2004 State that went red and those that went blue.

Then again look at it based on the 2008 states that were swing states — red in and then blue in 08.

I think you’re very wrong. I think the data shows that there are a lot of people who think very highly of her, but are concerned with electability. Her “last pick” rating is as high as her total disapproval rating, and she has a significant lead in “strongly approve.”

“[Romney]’s also probably the best debater, and most knowledgeable”

Comes from debating both sides of the issues his entire carreer, depending on his latest audience.

Are you saying he’s a closet liberal, or are you accusing him of being gay?

Y'all are just nuts.

Do you understand that Romney was responsible for socialized medicine in Massachusetts? And that the Obama admin is using Romney's model as the basis for his own scheme?

Romney is not a conservative. He's a political opportunist and a crypto-liberal. If you vote for him and you expect him to act like a conservative, you will be sorry. If, God forbid, he gets elected, his tenure will be one where conservatives look back after 4 years and wonder "What the hell just happened?"

With Obama in office, the GOP will fight him if for no other reason than he's of the opposing party. With Romney, there will be no fight and the socialists will make gains with hardly any oppostion to speak of.

A Romney nomination by the GOP puts BOTH political parties in America in the hands of the Left. We CAN NOT let that happen.

I would adamantly oppose Romney in the primary. But while I’m the first guy to say “better a Democrat than a Republican who votes like a Democrat” in congressional races, do you honestly believe we’d be better off with another four years of Obama than Romney?

Fight this out in the primary!

(incidentally, who’s your pick in the primary?)
