Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is second only to Mitt Romney as the presidential candidate Republican voters say they’ll vote for in 2012 state GOP primaries, but she’s also one of two candidates they least hope wins the party’s nomination.

Do you know where the negatives for Haley Barbour come from? He seems like a great guy who was good for the party, is a decent governer, and is free of any scandals.
At this point I would lean toward voting for him.

Palin is not going to care that much “who gets the credit” for new conservative GOP wins. Herself or Barbour or Jindal or Hunter etc., she doesn’t have an ego in it but she wants those freaking liberals swept OUT and sensible minds brought IN.

I like Haley Barbour, but speaking as a New Englander, his way of talking rubs many in that part of the country the wrong way. I'm not saying it should; I'm saying it does. Even Jimmy Carter had that problem and lost a number of primaries in part because of it.

IMO it’s Palin’s to lose, the nomination in 2012.
If Romney were at one hall in a major city, and Palin was at another at the same time, Romney would be sucking air with only his staff in attendance.
When the pedal hits the metal, it Palin time right now. It just stands to be seen, what changes will come.

Remember that Reagan in 1980 faced five major opponents for the nomination including John Connally and Phil Crane. When RR lost the Iowa Caucus to George HW Bush his political obituary was being written. Then the real RR had a strong debate performance leading to the New Hampshire primary and suddenly the pundits switched to writing of his inevitable nomination (once the New Hampshire results rolled in).
I think Palin may see a similar scenario.

All well and good, but do you really see New England as Republican territory anyway? That being said, it should be our goal to win them too, but I’m not convinced it’s possible even under the best of terms. As well as Romney may play in Ma., I don’t see him taking the region.
I will have to be honest though. If I take a person from Ma. seriously, why shouldn’t I be a little put off that people from New England wouldn’t take Barbour seriously?
It’s all about the policies IMO.

Palin is the big speaker draw. It only remains to be seen whom she will back, if anybody. Some of her “debates” with like-minded conservatives will probably be more like friendly discussions.
