WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Senator John McCain issued a statement of support for resigning Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on Saturday, saying she will play a leadership role in the Republican Party and in America.
McCain made the comment a day after Palin stunned the political world by announcing she is stepping down. Palin was McCain's vice presidential running mate in last year's U.S. presidential campaign won by Democrat Barack Obama.
"I have the greatest respect and affection for Sarah, Todd, and their family. I was deeply honored to have her as my running mate and believe she will continue to play an important leadership role in the Republican Party and our nation," McCain said in a statement e-mailed to Reuters.

Understatement. Either the ‘Republican’ party of ball-less fatcat, safe-in-their-government jobs attitude, liberal Democrat appeasing skinks gets with her program, or they get left behind - period.

Oh Lord Sarah. Don’t be a softy and go campaign for him just because he said a few words now. If he had stuck up for you immediately after the election, I would support you assisting him, but as of now....PLEASE STAY AWAY SARAH!!!
To: rabscuttle385
F McCain, he would have his daughter be the next leader and have Sarah be some form of door mat.
I don't like, trust or admire McCain.
I thank him for his service in the military and desperately await his leaving politics for good.

Boy, oh boy! If there ever was a never-mind in the Republican Party it has to be John McCain.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for him as a fighting man and naval officer, but he's a true has-been when it comes to politics.
Move along now everyone. Nothing to see here. Show’s over. The cast has left the building.

Captain Queeg is a LOSER. The MSM chose him for us, and by doing so ensured that Hussein Obama got elected. Captain Queeg needs to STFU and go away. No one cares what he thinks. No one looks to him for leadership.

Why didn’t Johnny come out and defend her against the Vanity Fair slander by some of his campaign staffers?

That's the first half-way decent thing the prick has had to say about her since the polls closed on November 4th.
Translation: She's no threat now, I can relax. I've still got a shot in 2012.
No you don't you SOB. There are some pretty bad people in this nation. McCain is lucky in that. Otherwise he would be my least favorite U.S. Citizen.
The following is directed to Freepers who haven't signed up for monthlies...
is good. 100% is better. Let's go Freepers.
Thanks to Freepers who have been frequenting the Freepathon thread to ham it up with folks over there. It helps to raise the visibility of the Freepathon.

I hope she goes and campaigns against him in the primaries.
We need a good conservative candidate to replace him.

I heard last night that Charlie Crist said similar things.
One thing it does show that they know how popular she is with the grassroots who do the work in campaigns.
He said the right words is the nicest thing I can say about McCain.
