I think almost everyone in Washington is using the “round peg” analysis on a “square hole” politician.

Palin is so far out of the paradigm of Washington politics and commentary, that they can’t even begin to do an accurate assessment.

"In fact, the governor does not need much more than a ballot line from the aimless,
tongue-tied, villain-rich GOP. She certainly does not need the GOP to do well
in the congressional mid-terms in 2010; she does not need the party
to improve its flabby polling on health care or trust;
she does not even need the Republican Party to raise a voice
to explain her positions on the burning controversies on Capitol Hill.
Palin does not need to prove anything at all about wise government,
because she appeals directly to the anti-authoritarian crowd that has
been with us since Shay’s Rebellion in 1787."

Palin is a true stateswoman.

In 2008 she warned us that Obama is a socialist even though some people thought she was being bizarre when she did that.

And she is THE ANTI-OBAMA. She doesn’t need to be an officeholder or candidate in order to direct attention to Obama’s poorly crafted crazy quilt of mandates.

After all, Colin Powell doesn’t need to be a candidate in order to get media attention when he criticizes Obama.

Unlike Powell, Palin doesn’t need to eat crow.

It is not mentioned in the piece but well to remember that GOP candidates have been successful running for president without holding a current office. Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan come to mind.

Interesting post, but Obama should be the one compared to the corrupt and popular Huey Long. Palin’s appeal is along the lines of Reagan’s. He was full of uncommon commonsense, and people responded to him, and, like Palin, he had plenty of detractors both in and outside of the party.

I’ve been praying for a leader to lead us out of the wilderness, and I believe Sarah could be the answer to that prayer. I really, really like her!

She is an outsider now & she is poised to lead the revolution. The left and the RINOs will regret their slimy attacks on her & her family - what is that I smell around them? It’s the smell of FEAR.

GO SARAH! We’ve got your back!

Sara doesn't have a "george soros" to fund her, so we should help out. Even if she doesn't run for President, she is going to be carrying the message and has been carrying the message for a while now. She needs help with the legal bills, etc.

We should all empty out that "penny jar" and start a "Pennies for Palin" fund. I've got to huge penny jars, with probably around $100 in pennies and other assorted change...I'm taking them to that "change counter" thing at the supermarket and converting it into money for Sarah.

To me, just the past few months of her rattling the liberals is worth the money. You can't buy that kind of dem harassment.

The fact is, if Palin’s situation happened exactly the same way, except she was a Democrat, the consensus among conservatives would be to celebrate a political adversary’s demise and do the rumba.

It takes quite a bit of a lack of clarity to say that somehow, Palin is closer to the presidency in 2012 than she was two days ago.

Now, that may turn out to be the case (who knows, wait and see), but Palin’s announcement don’t portend to crafting a more serious and credible national candidate.

If her ambitions are for 2016 or beyond, as some have suggested, it’s an even more dubious move.

I know many are emotionally invested in Palin (and so am I), but I can’t check my brain at the door. Concocting scenarios where Palin is somehow politically stronger is dubious, at best.

It’s amazing that so many on FR have no clarity on this issue. If she were a dem, they would have no problem calling this like it is.

Git ‘em, Sarah. If you really go after these creeps, a huge portion of the electorate will support you.

Something I swiped from a Tweet yesterday describes Sarah's attitude with her indomitable flair:
Sarah Palin has just taken the "political box" & decided to do a little origami!

Go Sarah, and God bless your journey!

How Palin's Resignation Makes Her the True Frontrunner

Frontrunner of what? The GOP? The GOP can cram it. Now if she is the frontrunner to lead us to a return to the Constitution outside the GOP, Liberty, reclaiming our roots, culture, way of life and is proud of the old evil white men...that is a different story but th GOP? F**k the GOP! F**k multiculturalism, F**k the invasion of country encouraged by both the GOP and Donkeys, F**k Marxism, F**k degrading and spiting on where we come from, our heroes and our founders, F**k the RHINOs, Neocons and most of all F**k the no backbone "conservatives". F**k all who represent what our current country and government has become and all those who disdain our founding, history, white people and culture.

Amen!!! What an excellent article!

"What Kristol and Schmidt know is that the only Republican candidate worth cutting each other up about is Sarah Palin. The governor certainly does not need either of them other than as stable hands for Joan of Arc’s replacement horses or as Joan Crawford’s makeup artists.
