How Palin's Resignation Makes Her the True Frontrunner
The Daily Beast ^ | Jul 4, 2009 | John Batchelor

Posted on 07/04/2009 7:04:31 AM PDT by skimbell

Rather than a blow to a career, Sarah Palin's decision to resign underlines her self-awareness, writes The Daily Beast's John Batchelor. She is now unmatched for the 2012 primary. The early excuse for the Republican circular firing squad of the holiday weekend is that Weekly Standard editor and party brainiac Bill Kristol claims that pugnacious McCain campaign enforcer Steve Schmidt has been caught gossiping to Vanity Fair’s Todd Purdum about Sarah Palin’s rambling and incoherent vice-presidential campaign last September and October...

Shouldn't be surprised about the shallowness of some of the opinions, but it is pretty basic...

The nonstop fraudulent ethics violation charges were costing the her and her state money (money she doesn't have) and taking her away from state business.

Her decision gives the state back a governor and gives her the opportunity to confront her antagonists head on.

For her and her state, it is a Win - Win.

Hill is being forced to turn on obama, those leaks that were so common in the Bush administration is not going to compare to what is coming for obama.

Quitting before ending your term, short of dire family circumstances, IS political weakness by definition...you win the election, you finish it out...how could it be otherwise??

Speaking of Hill...

Did anyone acutally see her "fall"?

We need Sarah’s voice now. The folks at NRO have shown a decidedly inside the beltway face on this if you ask me. Clueless.
This is the beauty of Sarah. I am glad she is gonna fight for me.

You may be right. In a way I hope you are. I suspect, though, that she may be Dagney Taggert figuring out that John Galt was right.

There is not a political solution to our problems.

Thank you for this brief and accurate assessment.

I intend to totally steal it. ;)

Would you consider an unending string of fraudulent ethics violation charges that threaten to load you with over a million dollars of debt a dire family circumstance?

You and I are on the same page. I believe Hill sees and opening and intends to seize the moment. Sarah, only served to forcer her hand sooner than planned.

I'm still a Newt guy

Really? You think Newt has a snowball's chance of obtaining nomination? Really? No joke?

There you go again - thinking like the establishment while Sarah's thinkin' outside the box. Doing the same thing over and over always gets the same results.

Sarah has redefined the game to get new results! She has both of her eyes on the target - not on the "back sight".

Steve Schmidt was also heard by some to be rambling about Gozer ~

" Gozer the Traveller will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii the Traveller came as a very large and moving Torb. Then of course in the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex supplicants they chose a new form for him, that of a Sloar. Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."

The Hildabeast already made her move ~ first the story that she has disagreements with Obama about Iran. Second this hitpiece by her boy Syd's son (via artificial insemination).

I wouldn't put it past her to have had a "newsie" set fire to Sarah's church in Wasilla.

It is not mentioned in the piece but well to remember that GOP candidates have been successful running for president without holding a current office. Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan come to mind.

Interesting post, but Obama should be the one compared to the corrupt and popular Huey Long. Palin’s appeal is along the lines of Reagan’s. He was full of uncommon commonsense, and people responded to him, and, like Palin, he had plenty of detractors both in and outside of the party.
