Palin's Dereliction of Duty
The American Spectator ^ | July 3, 2009 | Quin Hillyer

Posted on 07/03/2009 2:15:42 PM PDT by EveningStar

Knowing that many, many conservatives will absolutely dump on me for saying this, I can't help myself: Sarah Palin's resignation is an appalling dereliction of duty and a highly cynical move to set herself up for a presidental run for which she is manifestly unqualified.

"She’s quitting because she’s quitting. They won. "

Think you nailed it.

Just remember - "They" absolutely includes John McCain.

I don’t think Sarah will run for Pres, but I think she’ll still try to help campaign for conservative Republican candidates wherever she can.

...at least Mitt finished his term as Governor....didn’t he??

...by going over to the Dark Side: gay marriage, socialized medicine, etc etc. So what good was it -- he didn't finish the term as a Republican or a Conservative, but as a turncoat. Sarah didn't want to do that.

I'm with her.

“Don’t think so small....you are a Texan!!”

Ha, ha, good point. From the responses I’ve gotten, apparently my fellow Freepers think I’m all hat and no cattle. ;-)

I was just expressing my honest opinion that SP has effectively destroyed her political future, but if I’m wrong, then that’s just dandy. I find it hard to see how she can recover from this, especially with the way the press portrays her.

What can you expect from a source that's nothing more than a press organ of the Neo-cons? The “American Spectator”...LOL!

Neo-cons are liberals thinly disguised. They hate Sarah's pure brand of conservatism.

Palin isn’t even finishing her first term as Governor....WOW! I don’t see how anyone could continue to support her for President in 2012.

In the past 4 years, I wonder if God is punishing cosnervatives. First we lose Congress. Then a False Messiah gets elected. The good ones like Palin and Fred Thompson call it quits. But the undesirable ones like Romney and Sanford insist on staying.

She couldn’t stand the heat and she got out of the kitchen.

I myself am more cynical. I think more will come out soon on her reasons. Illness, or scandal?

Maybe she found out just how many Republicans took money from Soros and Obama and decided to play a different game. She may be too honest for the nation we have now.

Oh yeah. It is so much better to waste tax money. She spends most of her time defending herself and not running the state.

The more I think about this angrier I get. She quit during her first term! She's a Conservative who want finish her term? I can only hope that she is getting out of politics and doesn't want to run for President. We criticized Obama for lack of experience now she stops short of being a full term Governor!

People can flame away. This is very distressing. She had a Conservative record to build on and people were counting on her. YOU FINISH YOUR TERM!

NOT if you’ll be broke by the end of it. What middle-class fmaily can afford half a million dollars in legal fees, governor, or not? It is insane.

Even if she doesn’t do anything else politics-wise it was still good to have her in the spotlight for a short time.

“Obama quit his job as Senator to run for POTUS. He just didn’t resign from the office — he quit while still pulling down the paycheck.”

He did the same thing as senator in Illinois.

Except that she is quitting early a job for which she campaigned, won and accepted. That is not ethical, sorry.

On the contrary, if someone believes their replacement could do a better job in the position, then resignation is the most ethical thing they can do.

Government in Alaska has become pathologically dysfunctional due to Democrat schemes designed to distract Palin from her duties. Perhaps her hope is that with her out of the picture, her replacement will be more effective in the role.

Of course, she is probably wrong. The facts seem to be that government simply doesn't work anymore. But it is best to try every other option before resorting to revolution. The violence, bloodshed, and hardship that will come as a result of civil war is best avoided if any possible alternative for resolution of the underlying offenses can be found.

Well, I agree, but most of the folks here seem to think she can do no wrong. I think it ruins her political future and makes her look like a quitter who can’t take pressure.

Fred Thompson has more interested in getting a talk radio job. Giuliani is trying to get a talk radio deal with Westwood One. If he gets the show, he won’t run for NY Governor in 2010.

Judging by seeing Palin do speeches for Austisic kids and the pro-life events, perhaps she will try to be a spokesperson for Autistic kids charities or National Right to Life.
