Endorsement, appointment included in billionaire's connections

Ebay founder Pierre Omidyar's politics have become the subject of blog commentary because the web auction site over the last week repeatedly scrubbed an offering of an allegedly genuine copy of President Barack Obama's birth certificate – from Mombasa, Kenya.

But the company said it wouldn't get involved in any discussion of Omidyar's activities or political statements.

Spokeswoman Evonne Gomez said, "We certainly wouldn't comment on our founder's political concessions or beliefs. He is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company."

She said if a question was submitted in writing, she would consult on whether it would be answered. A question submitted by WND didn't, however, produce a response.

"I will coordinate with colleagues on the corporate side," she said. "We wouldn't comment on his political views or associations."

Omidyar, a billionaire, former CEO and current chairman of eBay, earlier this month was appointed by Barack Obama to serve on the 28-member President's Commission on White House Fellowships.

According to a White House press release from June 17, Omidyar joins former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, General Wesley Clark, former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw, and several others on the committee, which recommends candidates to the president for selection as White House Fellows. The release calls the White House Fellowship "America's most prestigious program for leadership and public service, providing young individuals with experience working at the highest levels of the federal government ."

Pierre Omidyar doesn't run eBay and he certainly doesn't yank auctions. If a listing was yanked from eBay, it's because some eBayer reported it to eBay, and some drone followed through on the complaint.

Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman is a big Republican, but that doesn't make the company a bastion of conservatism.

Sure Omidyar is a lib, but he spends most of his time these days stockpiling food while his wife is on some sort of hunger strike in solidarity with some oppressed refugees or something.

I’ve decided to get off the fence, and out of the closet, so to speak, and voice my support for Barack Obama for President.

This has been a difficult decision for me in some ways because I don’t know Senator Obama that well, while on the other hand I know both Senator and former President Clinton fairly well. I’m not a friend of either but have had the opportunity to spend quality discussion time with both the Clintons, after his administration and before her presidential candiacy.

It’s a tough decision because I was rooting for Senator Clinton ever since I met her, before I had ever heard of Barack Obama.

But then there’s Barack Obama. I’ve never spent time with him, though I did meet him briefly backstage at a rally for Darfur in Washington, prior to his candidacy. I don’t know much about his policies. I’ve never had the chance to see him up close think through a complicated issue, like I have with the Clintons. But here’s the thing:

When he talks about America, it makes me proud to be an American. I want to believe, and I do believe that we live in the America he is talking about. I’m an immigrant, and even though I was raised here, I’ve always loved this country and its ideals with the fervor of a convert. He puts words to what I feel.

Hawaii has never said that the image of the short form COLB posted on "factcheck".org and DailyKOS was an authentic Hawaiian COLB or the information on the allege form jived with what was on Obama's long form certificate on file.

It's not eBay legal to sell birth certificates, drivers licenses or other government issued ID at all. That sort of listing will be yanked. It has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with possible violations of the law. For details on the policy, see:

The only birth certificates you'll see on eBay are obvious antiques, usually over 100 years old.

If you want to market the Obama certificate, you should put it on a T-Shirt and sell the shirt. Or put it on a post card and sell the post card. You might even be able to sell a copy of the birth certificate as long as the item is an obvious copy. For instance, if you stamp a big red COPY on the thing.

Depends on what you call legitimate.
What was posted is only a standard form that is easy to get.
NO ONE, to my knowlege has EVER seen Obozo’s real certificate as issued first in the hospital.
That is what everyone is after.
