TV "pitchman" Mays had heart disease, no trauma

TAMPA, Florida (Reuters) - Billy Mays, well known for pitching a variety of products in U.S. television commercials, had heart disease but did not appear to have suffered head trauma in a rough airplane landing prior to dying in his sleep on Sunday, a medical examiner in Florida said on Monday.

The bearded, black-haired Mays, 50, who gained fame as an enthusiastic TV "pitchman" advertising an array of commercial products, was found dead by his wife at their home in Tampa, Florida.

On Saturday, Mays was among the passengers aboard a U.S. Airways flight from Philadelphia that landed roughly at Tampa International Airport after apparently blowing a tire.

Mays told local TV shortly afterward that objects had dropped from the ceiling of the plane upon impact and he had received a blow on the head, although he said at the time he felt fine.

In a preliminary statement on Monday after an initial autopsy, Hillsborough County medical examiner Vernard Adams said his examination found that Mays had "hypertensive heart disease," which refers to heart disease caused by high blood pressure, but "there was no evidence of any head trauma."

Adams said this heart ailment "was certainly capable of causing the sudden death." He said Mays had died in his sleep.

"It's not unusual for persons with heart disease to die this young," Adams said, adding that a formal report on the cause of death would be issued only after the results of toxicology tests were considered.

Beleive it or not, Mag is more important that excercise, you can excercise all you want and be low on mag (in fact it makes you more likely to be low on it) and you will suffer a heart attack no matter how strong your heart is, you don’t need a blockage, or high blood pressure, no mag means your heart cannot release it’s contraction, you die, period, with a perfectly strong heart, no blockage, happens to tons of folks everyday, only it’s listed as a heart attack ... But essentially, they died of lack of Magnesium ...

Hey Badger, read this, don’t do anything without your doctors advice, I am not a doctor, but I have went to very sick to excellent health with all natural things, and Magnesium is key to good health, especially when it comes to the heart, as well as Vitamin C and CoQ10. Read this link sometime and see what you think

I didn’t know that, but I was happy to see that the nuts I’ve been eating instead of other snacks are good sources of magnesium.

If I call right now, will they double the order and throw in the SHAM WOW guy, too?

Just pay second shipping and handling.

That has to be the biggest scam of them all. Where does the standard price of $19.95 come from, regardless of what they're selling? And then, when they throw in a second one free (probably costing them pennies to make) and just charge you a second shipping and handling (for another $6.95? -- does it come in a second box?), they're really charging you close to $35 for that $19.95 deal.

That's another way to look at it. McMahon died one day closer to MJ and FF than Mays did.

And I bet the shipping and handling on a dead guy would be even more! Maybe I can’t afford free stuff.

I sure hope that when my time comes I can leave this earth while sleeping. Compared to my cancer stricken husband, it would be so peaceful.

Prayers up for the family.
