Now we will see if any Republicans will have the gonads to question the PR separatist about this in her confirmation hearings.

Funny that New Haven was trying to avoid a law suit, and ended up with a very high profile SCOTUS case.

How long will it be before Obama tries to bump up the number of Supreme Court Justices from nine to twelve?

KENNEDY, J., delivered the opinion of the Court, in which ROBERTS, C.J., and SCALIA, THOMAS, and ALITO, JJ., joined. SCALIA, J., filed a concurring opinion. ALITO, J., filed a concurring opinion, in which SCALIA and THOMAS, JJ., joined. GINSBURG, J., filed a dissenting opin-ion, in which STEVENS, SOUTER, and BREYER, JJ., joined.

Finally! The existence of reverse discrimination is upheld. Another unintended consequence of affirmative action.

Sorry, but the Dems will spin it as an example of the evil conservative-dominated Court and as a miscarriage of justice. They will use it to show all the more reason why Sotomayor is needed to keep the court from falling futher into the hands of conservatives. To them the SCOTUS is incredibly hidebound and conservative. They really believe that.Exactly. I agree this decision will now become a political football.
On the other hand, it shows the rank partisanship on the side of the liberals on the Court. They are willing to subvert the Constitution to support bad decisions. THAT's what the pubbies should make political hay out of.

This will actually help Sotomeyer, sadly. It will increase the Senate’s desire to ram her through at all costs.

I'm very pleased with this decision. Hopefully, this will make people realize it isn't about Sotomayor's "inspiring life story". It's about her knowledge of the constitution.
My understanding is that her decisions are overturned by SCOTUS 60% of the time. Clearly, that would make her a poor choice as the next member of SCOTUS.
