*Welcome to the FReeper Canteen* Summertime Memories
Running through a lawn sprinkler getting soaked on a hot summer day
Endless games of hide 'n seek which went on as late as our neighborhood group could get away with and the parents called us home
Campfire Girl summer camp with the bugle wake-up call every morning
Hot dogs from the grill with lots of mustard
Cicadas singing all night long... the next morning their empty shells on the tree
A cold, sweet snow cone..with the inevitable dribbles on the chin
Swimming holes, creeks, and lakes.
Chiggers and fireflies lighting up the night
What are some of your favorite memories of summer?

LOL! Yes to both.
We also made one up. We called it Run Over.
We would stand out by the street. If a car came down our
block, we had to run and make it to the porch before the
car crossed our sidewalk up to the porch. If you didn’t
make it you were.......run over!
Lame, but we spent hours playing it. :D

You, too????
I ALWAYS had to sit on the front seat.
I was also left-handed, which meant that the one-armed
desks were always on the wrong side. Once one of my teachers
found me a left-handed desk and I was in heaven!

I used to slip out the bedroom window, climb down one trellis to go raid the grapes. That reminds me of my grandmother's house. She used to live by a Gallo vineyard. We never thought about getting into it because she grew her own grapes, but I remember the smell when they would dump the dregs from the wine-making process onto the vineyard as fertilizer. What a stink!

RE: Drive-ins - That's okay. I think Connie actually already had us covered, with the graphic of a Drive-in, in post #1 on this thread. :)

I wasn’t allowed to play on the street.
Coolest place in the summer was on our side porch between the houses...
We sat and played Monopoly for hours and hours and hours.
