Summertime Memories

Running through a lawn sprinkler getting soaked on a hot summer day

Endless games of hide 'n seek which went on as late as our neighborhood group could get away with and the parents called us home

Campfire Girl summer camp with the bugle wake-up call every morning

Hot dogs from the grill with lots of mustard

Cicadas singing all night long... the next morning their empty shells on the tree

A cold, sweet snow cone..with the inevitable dribbles on the chin

Swimming holes, creeks, and lakes.

Chiggers and fireflies lighting up the night

That it is.. I actually enjoy painting in an empty room..

One that is filled with furniture and moving stuff side to side is a pill.

I’m glad you made it home uneventfully.

When we put new floors in..Everything got moved to the garage, the basement and the dining room.

I had the luxury of painting empty rooms.

MY CHILDHOOD SUMMER MEMORIES:

l) Lying in the grass watching the clouds float past...and
seeing wonderful things in them. Horses, dogs, mountains....

2) Having a cherry popcicle from the ice-cream boy who was on
a bike riding through the neighborhood.

3) Running through the sprinkler as mom watered the grass.

4) Going swimming and staying all day and not worrying about
my (ugh) freckles.

5) Tying a string to a big green June bug and letting him
fly round and round.

6) Playing hide and seek at night and not worrying about
having to come in early.

7) Going for two weeks to my grandparents’ home out in the
country and not wearing a pair of shoes the whole time except
to church. Coming home brown and fit.

8) Watermelon, home-made ice cream, hot dogs, huge dill pickles, snow cones.

9) Going to the creek with my grandmother and fishing
with a cane pole and worms. EEK!

10) Vacation Bible School

11) Going to the park for a picnic...or just having our
lunch sammiches on a quilt pallet in the back yard under a
tree.

12) Going to bed late and getting up late.

13) Making a tent out of said quilt in the back yard, making plans to sleep out and then wanting to come in when
it was late and we’d read all the new comics and told all
the ghost stories.

14) NO SCHOOL!

ALWAYS good to save stuff in a couple places....one never knows. Glad her server is back up. It is so annoying when they go down...you never know why, or for how long.
