In a stunning confession, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford admitted Wednesday to being "unfaithful" to his wife during a press conference meant to account for his mysterious week-long absence. "I've let down a lot of people. That's the bottom line," he said. "I've been unfaithful to my wife." Sanford, who just returned from Argentina, said he developed a "relationship with what started out as a dear, dear friend from Argentina."
We’ve been saying for a while now that we’re conservatives, not republicans.
On a positive note, this will narrow the field for Sarah Palin.
If I was right that it was about him influencing a lawsuit, lying under oath, and maybe raping Juanita Broderick(?sp) then it certainly should have been pursued.
As the years have gone by, your comments and those of others on this board makes me think it really was, “All about sex”, and that is unfortunate and a shame IMO.
We also had Newt, Livingston, and Henry Hyde, it should never have been about sex, it should have been about what he did after the sex and whether he/they broke the law.
I think your position is turning out to be right and the Repubs and many Conservatives are looking like huge hypocrites, at least Sanford is owning up to it at the start.
The Conservatives have to stop letting others define the rules and set the boundaries of the arguments, but they also have to get their own crap in one shoe before calling out someone else’s crap.
Things like this is why regardless of how bad our current President messes things up, the GOP and Conservatives are going to have to be at the top of our game to make inroads in 2010 and 2012,...... IMO
On second thought I don’t hope it was worth it.
BS, any man can be seduced. It doesn’t make a bit of difference what party they belong to. Men think with the brain between their legs before they use the one in their heads.
Hunter is looking like Superman right about now.
I didn’t say it was a conspiracy, did I? I merely said that the liberal media would report on this as a lead story for days despite the rest of the world coming apart at the seams and Hussein’s complete inability to even address the situation much less come up with a policy.
Do you get what I’m saying here or should I post again using smaller words? You DO know what a conspiracy is, don’t you?
I don’t think this girl was one of the Hollywood crowd who has a revolving door for a vagina..... but yeah, in that case I could see it happening.
Exactly. :-)
Oh yeah, by the way its usually the man that is doing the seducing and not the woman.
I’m glad that you stuck with it.
It sounds like you need to write a book!
No, it's not. As much as I despise Obama and everything he stands for, this is not about him. It is about Mark Sanford, cheating on his wife, having his staff lie about where he's at, and getting caught in an incredibly stupid attempt to cover it up.
I was leaning towards Sanford in 2012, but not now. Not sure who I'll go with, but it looks like the serious contenders now are DeMint, Palin, and possibly Jindal.
A couple of things I'd like to say as general comments to the thread, too: 1) For all the yahoos out there who want to use this to "prove" that "all" Republicans are hypocrites, and this is why we should vote for your worth nothing little third party - get bent. Chances are any one of you could do the same thing as Sanford did, if you were put into the wrong circumstances with the wrong (spiritual) heart condition.
2) For all you folks out there who think the argument that "what they do in their personal life is their business, not ours, so it doesn't matter" is a good argument, you need to get your head checked. It DOES matter. If we can't trust a man to be faithful to the vows he made to his OWN WIFE, why do you think he'd keep his trust with a bunch of people he doesn't even know?
Either way works for me.
I’ll take it.
It’s not sleaze mongering when the media reports on a governor who goes missing and his wife and Lt. Gov. have no idea of his whereabouts leaving his staff to fabricate a story about him going on a hike.
“Oh yeah, by the way its usually the man that is doing the seducing and not the woman.”

That rule is so often broken that it hardly seems worth mentioning.
Agree, and give the RINOS the GOP.

A side note...next time you get a chance to watch "From Here To Eternity" take notice of the scene where Montegomery Clift is talking to Donna Reed outside the "dance hall" (really a bordello and she was really a whore). The writer or director, I don't know which, set their conversation right outside the front door which was behind Reed's back. As they were talking there was a steady stream of men going in and out through the door (through her). It was Hollywood's way of getting around the code to define her characer and damned clever.
Somehow I have been able to spend a great deal of time in Argentina among all those beautiful women and I managed to to cheat on my wife.
And his wife Jenny was probably surrounded by much handsomer men, but somehow she managed to hold it together and not fall into bed with them.
