Your attitude displays precisely why conservatives don't don't win enough elections to change the political landscape.

Your thinly disguised vulgarity is not in keeping with Free Republic's standards of posting. Such posts are a large factor of why this forum is not appealing to many folks needed to win elections. FR's image is is established for the most part by its most despicable posters .

Mature people do not use vulgarity to express valid opinions. Do you have a point worthy of posting that can be expressed as an adult?

The Huff is number one.? Where is the Fairness Doctrine??

One reason for that is that the news aggregator offered by Comcast to all its customers sports a link to HuffPo. It's the cool people of the MSM supporting one another that skews "regression to the mean". But if you add FR, Fox, RealClearPolitics and TownHall together, they outstrip HuffPo by a couple of percentage points. I'm actually encouraged that DU and MorOn.org aren't on the list.

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe those numbers for the Huffington Post.

Nor Salon.

I guess I am a bit disturbed at the Huffington Post having vaulted to number one, however. This reeks of manipulation.

“somebody will realize that the nut-jobs that are allowed to post here are not furthering FR’s goals”

And what about free speech...that’s the thing about this place...people can speak their minds, even if you, or I, consider them nut-jobs. That doesn’t mean that nutty comments predominate here. I find most people here very coherent and many times when I disagree with someone, they challenge me to think more sharply - it’s not usually because they’re yelling at me, or being nut cases...you know?

A far more relevant question is why Free Republic doesn't have a larger share with accompanying political influence. Eventually somebody will realize that the nut-jobs that are allowed to post here are not furthering FR's goals, but just alienating moderates who are the pivotal group in most elections. Same with all the lonely heart types who use this forum as a chat room and just dilute the serious posts, essays and true conservative messages.

Buffalo Head, I am one long-time FReeper who agrees with you. Unfortunately, there is zero chance of improving the situation. People who brook absolutely no deviation from their own point of view cannot be convinced that their image in a mirror is quite a limited window on the world.

“And what about free speech”

That constitutional protection against government control of speech does not apply to private forums such as Free Republic which is solely controlled by its owner. “people can speak their minds….”

Yeah, folks with small minds can spew their hate and disruption without penalty, except losing election after election. “That doesn’t mean that nutty comments predominate here.”

Unfortunately, this forum is primarily judged and respected (or not respected) based upon the nuttiest posts, not the most learned and elegant. “I find most people here very coherent….”

< Then you haven’t been watching very closely. Most of the posters here habitually and continually inject adolescent attempts at humor into the threads rather than purposeful and informative comments.

“...you know?”

No, I don’t know what you believe that you know.

#3 on the charts but #1 in our hearts! Congrats to you Jim and John.

Fox News regularly interviews people from Politico, Townhall, etc It's time for them to start interviewing people from FR as well.

I'm available and ready for battle... :-)

The fact that FR and Fox put together don’t add up to Huffington Post (let alone the also-rans) is bothersome.
