Forced drinking of urine at Boy Scout camp blamed on racial slur

One adult and three teenagers at a Boy Scout camp are accused of forcing a boy to drink human urine because they were "teaching him a lesson" for supposedly making racial slurs to another Scout, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office reported Monday.
Investigators arrested Joseph Wendell Reid, 21, two 16-year-olds, and a 15-year-old, all from Ocala, last week on a charge of kidnapping.
Officers allege the four held a 12-year-old boy against his will, first taping his mouth shut and then forcing him to drink urine, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The four were attending Camp Shands at Baden Powell Road near Hawthorne, the Sheriff's Office reported.

Sears said the four people arrested and the 12-year-old boy were from different Boy Scout troops.
Reid was a volunteer leader in scouting and was with the troop of the other Ocala residents involved in the incident, Sears said.

By careful reading it appears that the white 12 year old scout used a racist term against a black scout. Other older scouts and an adult scout leader grabbed him and gave him the choice of drinking urine or being beaten up. One of the thugs filmed it on a cell phone.

I was a boy scout for a short time. The first camp out we went on was spent "initiating" my brother and I. We went through a week of hell and never went back. We joined 4H instead.

We were camping during the winter in Massachusetts and the older scouts poured water on our bedding. They spit in our food. Some of the scouts stole our food. They poured syrup in our hair when we slept. When I complained to the scoutmaster he slapped me and told me to grow up. It wasn't at all what I imagined the boy scouts to be.

We always pranked the younger kids on their first camp out but it was benign stuff like snipe hunts or sending them to another troop’s campsite for a bacon stretcher and that troop would send them to the next one on down and so on till the kids had visited everyone in the area looking for a non existent item.
