Video: Obama auto team called shareholder lawyer a “terrorist”
HotAir.com ^ | 6/13/2009 | Ed Morrisey

When we last left the negotiations between Chrysler’s senior bondholders and Barack Obama’s auto task force, Thomas Lauria and his clients alleged that the government used intimidation tactics and threatened to sic the White House press corps on individuals if they didn’t give up their rights to allow the unions to win in the bankruptcy. Congress took an interest in this”madman” theory of the Presidency and got access to some e-mails floating between the task force and an analyst. Rep, Steven LaTourette (R-OH) reads from the e-mails, in which the auto task force calls Lauria — their attorney — a “terrorist” and refuses to negotiate after a Chrylser expert consulted him:

Ms Underestimated writes: The important part comes at the end: an email exchange between Matthew Feldman, attorney on the President’s Auto Task Force, and Robert Manzo, Chrysler restructuring expert. Manzo is basically pleading to further negotiate to prevent bankruptcy, but Feldman is having none of it. Here is the exchange: Robert Manzo, Chrysler restructuring expert: “I hope you think it’s worth giving this one more shot.” Matthew Feldman, attorney on the President’s Auto Task Force: “I’m now not talking to you. You went where you shouldn’t.” Manzo: “Sorry. I didnt’ mean to say the wrong thing and I obviously did. I was trying oto make sure that if we had to contribute to the solution you knew we had some room. Sorry I did not realize the mistake!!” Feldman: “It’s over. The President doesn’t negotiate second rounds. We’ve given and lent billions of dollars so your team could manage this properly….And now you’re telling me to bend over to a terrorist like Lauria? That’s B.S.”

Obama is an abject marxist ideolog who hates the free market and traditional America. In his world view, the free market and private business terrorize his command economy model.

You see this in many ways. One is the push to eliminate "inside" contractors (as opposed to mere material suppliers, he's after them to of course) throughout the government, but particularly in the DoD. Never mind that they are cheaper than civil servants in most cases.

"Stuff like this is why I purely despise the bastards that inflicted obama on me."

I find it difficult to remain polite sometimes in the face of ignorance of history and foolish "hope". I keep reminding myself that even those who ultimately connect the dots probably won't see the error of their ways in one big "Aha" moment. Sometimes I get into heated discussions, but mostly I try to just skewer a few politicians, raise a doubt, or point out an inconvenient fact and move on. I'd rather nudge people along and remain on speaking terms than to alienate them completely or have them too easily write me off as a kook.

not a hot war.

A hot war of ideas, not bullets, if that's what you mean. Just as serious, though. And perfectly legal.

The consumers in this society can stand up and redefine just what it is the market will bear. In this case it is both civility and equal protection under the law. The double-standard in speech leads to a double-standard in behavior and law enforcement, even law creation in the congress.

If you believe that every individual is a minority of one and entitled to the full protection of the Constitution - as opposed to getting the crumbs of laws aimed at one group or another - then to be consistent we need to ensure that we have a culture of equal respect and equal protection. That's pretty much all we're asking.

But it looks like we'll have to fight for it.

Chrysler's negotiator a TERRORIST??????????????????????????????

Not Chrysler's negotiator, but rather the lawyer/negotiator for the bondholders, many of which are pension funds, yours perhaps?. Under the "old rules", the bondholders should have been first in line at any bankruptcy, instead they were told by Obama's minions to "suck hind teat", and for taking offense at that, in the name of his clients of course, he's called a terrorist.

Hell no I’m not giving up. I’m just damned mad and frustrated that we’re just letting it all happen while we pontificate daily about what’s happening and do NOTHING ELSE.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. Checkout the Appleseed project, most especially the number of "Riflemen" they've trained and certified. They define a riflemen as "as a marksman capable of hitting a man-sized target from 500 yards away". Many can of course do better, with proper equipment, which they have.

Meanwhile, they and other less organized types, have denuded gun store shelves of both guns and ammunition.

I just got back from the local gun show - I think demand might be easing up a bit. Model 1 Sales actually says they’ve caught up with their backlog and are accepting orders for immediate shipping; the ammo supply also appears to be getting straightened out - I’ve just come back with more cases of Brit Radway Green to feed the FAL I recently bought.

It only makes sense. Texas is the only state in the union that can support itself as an independent nation, that can manufacture nuclear weapons, and that has everything needed for self-sufficiency in any sense of the word.

In military terms, we could consolidate our conservative forces to the point where we would be able to stave off any outside attempts to invade or impose values. It would be akin to being in a position that’s so large you don’t have sufficient forces to adequately defend it (which is what we have now in the US) and falling back to a consolidated position in which your force can see off anything that challenges it.

Bush tried to take away the ancient right of habeas corpus from at least one American citizen: Jose Padilla (who happened to be a Muslim) and there is a strong indication that Padilla was also subject to "enhanced interogation" techniques such as sleep deprivation. He was held for more than three years without any criminal charges at all.

The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.
Constitution for the United States, Article I, section 9.

. Padilla represents 21st century version of both Invasion and Rebellion.

Police have used techniques such as sleep deprivation for many generations, AFAK, it's never been found to be "Cruel", and it's certainly not unusual.

Your observations are spot on. However, this comment shows your youth:

We then allowed the leftists to slime their way into the highest office, not once, but twice now.

The evolution of the revolution began with President Woodrow Wilson in the early 1900's. Next was FDR who accelerated the process under the guise of ending The Great Depression. Obama is mimicking FDR to a great extent. Then LBJ outdid FDR. Next there was Jimmy Carter and then Slick Willie before we got to where we are.

Unfortunately, this administration seems to be the Left's best opportunity and they aren't wasting it. They are no longer trying to use stealth and take baby steps, they are openly ramming their agenda through.

However, now is not the time for apathy and pessimism, as justified as they may seem. If we don't do all we can to make our voices heard and stop this now we won't have another chance short of an uprising. So, write and call to politicians, newspapers, TV and radio stations, and attend all the political events you can. Also, make advertisers and stores know your distaste when they back the Left/Democrats. Don't give them your money.

There are enough of us out here to make the difference. We just need to let the rest know it.

Oh really? They haven't shipped my February 22nd, order yet. Last I inquired, it was due to be shipped in early July. They have not charged my card yet, so I assume they haven't shipped it yet either.

It would be nice to be suprised and have it come before July. Then maybe I could have the kit built by Independence Day?

Was yours a custom order? I think they were talking about stuff that was “standard” out of their catalog being “caught up”.

They certainly had a *lot* of uppers available at the show.

To some extent. Chrome bolt, different charging handle/latch, 6 rather than 4 position stock (I've got gorrilla arms) and gas block instead of front sight. All options on the web page.
