AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- She dared a deputy constable to shock her with a Taser.
So, he did.
Video released by a Travis County Constable's Office shows Deputy Chris Bieze confronting 72-year-old Kathryn Winkfein after stopping her for speeding on May 11 just outside Austin.
Video from a camera mounted in the deputy's car shows Winkfein cursing and challenging the deputy and even daring him to use the Taser on her.
"You're going to shove me? You're going to shove a 72-year-old woman?" she yelled.
Winkfein told KTBC-TV in Austin that she did nothing to provoke the use of the Taser.
But Precinct 3 Sgt. Maj. Gary Griffin said Bieze used the Taser only after Winkfein became combative.

My question exactly.
As if this officer was not capable of simply handcuffing grandma and moving here away from traffic...
In a world gone mad!~
Combative?
Are they joking?

Upthread is the video. Watch it. See for yourself.
This “lady” is a Texan. Might be 72 years old. But she probably can still kick some a$$.
Don't threaten LE...because it puts you on the defensive.
He didn’t Taze her until after she got past him once.
It’s not a game of Pong. You just can’t push her back from the road indefinitely. Eventually you have to get the cuffs on her.
Sounds like a case of stupid on both sides. The old bag can be stupid. Not the cop.
Can someone post the video of granny being tasered ?
Thanks...
to #24. Just because someone is 72 does not give them a right to be mean and hateful anymore than it gives a 21 year old that right. I’ve seen many old women who are mean as snakes and want to fight about everything. If he had touched her, he would have been sued!!
I disagree. That policeman’s mother “Raised him Ugly”. You just don’t taz someone for this....a reasonable person would not agree with this.
Granted, he was confronted with a dangerous threat and made a tough decision to not use deadly force and instead use the humane method to subdue this threat! Give me a break...he gives law enforcement a bad name...nothing more than a bully in blue.
lol....Typical BS texan response.
Texas is a joke, that brought us Bush and LBJ, with weather that even insects hate...Not to mention their cops seem to be real punks, that are not even capable of simply handcuffing little ol ladies, that are *half* their size.
lol
Wlaking into traffic.
“go ahead, taze me”
The “lady” is a dumbass.
He showed that old lady...
wow...
The media want us to think this is real bad because she is a “72 year old great grandmother.”
What if this had been a 18 year old White male?
That is about my sense of it. They were both wrong. She invited the tasing with her deliberately truculent attitude. (Hell, she literally dared him to do it.) And he, given his greater size and training, should not have taken her bait. He should have just manhandled her into the cuffs, or at least tried to first (then tase — if need be).
Half the population is, what's new?
Most of the elderly out there on the roads are all doped up on medications, what's new?
The fact here is, the LEO was twice the old ladys size. Why not just cuff her? Was he not capable?
Ye don't tase grumpy ol ladies, over traffic infractions man! lol...
The officer should have pressed the button two or there more times. What an arrogant, out-of-control twit that great-grandmother is!! She apparently thinks she is above the law.
I'm unclear as to whether you believe that using a tazer on, especially a woman for being belligerent (obviously NOT on PCP or other dangerous drug).
I still maintain that only in 2009 America would any police official feel necessary to "defend" himself against any 72 year old woman for refusing to SIGN a traffic ticket.
Most especially, no reasonable person would consider it appropriate to use electrical shock, for that's basically what a tazer is on a woman who refuses to sign a traffic ticket!
Drop her like a bad habit onto the pavement! Then tase her again! Make her do the Texas chicken!
Then shoot the dummy when the batteries run out!! LOL....
I want to thank everyone for the comments on this thread...We all have got a big ol belly laugh out of this...Made our morning!!
