The family of Dr. George Tiller announced today that effective immediately, Women's Health Care Services, Inc., will be permanently closed. Notice is being given today to all concerned that the Tiller family is ceasing operation of the clinic and any involvement by family members in any other similar clinic.
Dr. Tiller was shot to death May 31st. Scott Roeder has been charged with murder.
A statement released this morning said, "The Tiller family wishes to assure Dr. Tiller's past patients that the privacy of their medical histories and patient records will remain as fiercely protected now and in the future as they were during Dr. Tiller's lifetime."

I wholeheartedly agree, and that's why I think that those of us (on this board and elsewhere) who have expressed sympathy or approval of this guy Roeder's actions (or have even hinted at such) have done a great disservice to our cause. From what I've read about the guy, I do not hesitate to call Roeder a terrorist - using violence to intimidate or to attempt to further political objectives is clearly terrorism - and as such (in order to try to avoid pro-lifers being branded as "domestic terrorists") I think it is important to make it clear that Roeder was most certainly not "pro-life." Murderers are not pro-life, period.
Now, of course, whatever we do, the 0bama folks and the MSM will do what they're going to do - demonize us, increase abortion funding, etc. - I just don't think we should be giving them more ammunition to use against us by supporting Roeder or his actions in any way.
Considered and dismissed by whom? I can almost hear the various MSNBC raging nincompoops going down that road already. I may very well be wrong - and would very much like to be on this one - but, no, I don’t think it’s “silly”. Sure, I’m extremely glad this place of gruesome murder is to be closed, but I’m not sure this is the last play by any means.
If abortion is such an essential activity, where is the courage of the clinic? Why not say they will "carry on as Dr Tiller would have blah blah.."
The reason I dismiss it is what I said on one of the later threads about this. The people are in awe of those who kill, because killers have the power to inflict death. Leaving aside any consideration of morality, and most Americans couldn’t care less about morality, this power holds them in thrall, for exactly the same reason they consider Obama to be a ‘sort of God’.
Tiller chose a “live by the sword” sort of business. That he died by the sword is something I see as more or less a predictable consequence. I neither laud nor condemn the shooter. Each of these men will ultimately answer to someone other than me and that part of things is none of my business. Leaving aside the bad things to be said about pro-life people as a result of this thing, I really didn’t care any more about this man dying that I did about the deaths of John Gotti or Carlos Gambino, for example. They chose a life that lead to death.
You’re right—I mis-typed :)
I still don’t see how that dismisses the very likely possibility of this bringing a very negative backlash, which would ultimately kill even more unborn children?
For years, we’ve been “teaching” the left that we’ll shut up and stop telling the truth about them if they call us racists.
They’ve just “taught” us that if their bought politicians won’t enforce the laws and some nut takes matters in his own hands, that they’ll fold up shop and go.
Because the more we kill the more they love us.
All they have to do is comply with the laws of their state, and not buy off the politicians to look the other way,
and they’re perfectly safe...
There is a Planned parenthood very near to where I live and only once did I see some nuns praying outside it. They seed about 100-200 people at a time to pray before those clinics and maybe persuade some of the women not to go through with the abortion.
Hey didn’t Cher say she would have liked to be an abortionist after she made those “If These Walls Could Talk” movies?
I am referring to the two late term abortion doctors that remain. It’s because of their specific practice that they stand out. The quick resolution to whether Tiller’s clinic would reopen, is certainly going to play heavily on some anti-abortionist’s minds.
I’d be concerned if I were one of these two physicians.
I’ll bet the other two late term abortion doctor specialists, have considerable protests outside their clinics.
Again, I don’t think they have a thing to worry about, as long as they obey the law.
Roeder acted (and someone else would have eventually), because laws were passed and ignored and thwarted by the politicians sworn to uphold the law.
If I could afford it, I’d buy the place and make it a holocaust museum with 67,000 crosses out front.
Make a crisis pregnancy center out of it.
Save some lives. Save some souls.
Thanks for the comments. I am not convinced these two guys are going to be harmed, I just think it would be quite natural for them to be very leery about their safety.
“So who do you rent a used abortion clinic to?”
Planned Parenthood.
