PHILADELPHIA — A U.S. court says a kindergartner's mother cannot read Scripture during show and tell, even if the Bible is the boy's favorite book.

Monday's ruling is a victory for the Marple Newtown School District in suburban Philadelphia.

The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says the school's decision does not violate First Amendment rights given the nonpublic nature of the classroom and the tender age of the children.

You are missing the point. The parent is already paying to have her child go to school...it's called taxation.

We are rapidly approaching the time when the citizens are going to be forced to take action against these judges through extra-judicial means. Some of these Liberal, America and God hating judges need to be taken out of their offices and hung in the public square...not that I would ever advocate such an action.

I homeschool for 150.00 a year. CD-Rom based.
And the nice thing about homeschooling is it doesn’t have to be 9-5.
I know single moms who get the kids work done when they are home. Understanding that my girls are two years ahead and get their work done in three hours, anyone can homeschool.

I don’t have all that much of a problem with the decision in that the matter should be left up to the principal.

What is concerning is that if the principal did decide to allow the reading, would the court have backed him up? I doubt it.

And would the principal have as aggressively intervened if the Muslim parent read from the Koran or a Jewish parent read from Exodus? I’m not so sure.

Truth be told.
But I consider it a wash. I’m actually educating the other skulls full of mush so my kids don’t have to deal with a bunch of dummies when they are older.

But I educate my own kids.

OK, so she's made her value judgment. Her tax rate is more important than her children's Christian education. If you'll excuse the metaphor, this seems a little bit like someone refusing to leave the Titanic because they paid so much for the price of a first class ticket.

Look, the judge is an arrogant self centered pig whose ruling finds no support whatever in the Constitution or the original intent of the founders. But, this mother has the ability to immediately remove her children from this Godless (no, anti-God) environment and then has the rest of her life to do battle with navel gazing judges.

I guess I would want to know more about the facts in this case. I know if the kid's favorite book were the Koran, I wouldn't just not want it read to my five year-old, I would want the Koran kid expelled.
