You Can Trust a Scientist Cant You?
May 31, 2009 After the flap over the missing link Ida last week (05/19/2009), paleontologist Christopher Beard warned about how such stunts damage scientific credibility. The only thing we have going for us that Hollywood and politicians dont is objectivity, he told Science magazine.[1] Can the public trust the objectivity of scientists as a class? Do they get more credibility points than other groups of professionals? Do the processes of scientific publication warrant a higher level of trust?
A study reported on Science Daily may shake that trust...

If you believe that half-lives change, you cannot ensure what they will be tomorrow. Our lives depend on them being constant.
It is pretty dumb to believe that the basis of nuclear technology is wrong but still believe in nuclear power. Sort of like saying it is safe to fly even though the laws of gravity and aerodynamics are wrong ...
“Having non-evos crammed into a literalist, 6 day, 6,000 year box whenever they question the ToE is a pretty sweeping generalization.
So is being called anti-science every time one disagrees with, or even questions, the latest pronouncement by the scientific community.
So youre right, gross generalizations are grating.”
I’m happy that we agree. :)
It got me a $2 million research grant from the Federal Government to study ocean currents in the vicinity of tropical islands.
.....and exactly how many of the dinosaur "kinds" in the fossil record that all died during the flood...made it on the Ark as God ordered in Genesis 6:19-21???
ZERO.
....meaning either they did not exist when Noah was gathering up pairs of "kinds"...or that they did and Noah didn't gather them as God ordered......looked right into the face of God and said "I'm not gathering any of those T. Rex 'kinds'."
Why did Noah ignore the direction of God to gather up "male and female pairs of every air breathing animal" by not gathering up one single pair of ANY "kind" of dinosaurs found in the fossil record? God told Noah to gather them, you assert that dinos all died in the Flood (meaning, they were here when Noah was here)...why did not ONE pair make it on the Ark? Why did Noah either fail or refuse to gather pairs of dinosaurs as God ordered?
Why didn't God punish Noah for not collecting His dinosaurs....for allowing ALL of them, each "kind", to die in the Flood?
How is that not clear to anyone that understands simple English? ...it's "not clear" because there's a major paradox in your belief that disallows the clarity. Can't have living dinosaurs without Noah gathering 'em onto the Ark....which didn't happen, so they must not have been here when Noah was...but then they wouldn't have died in the Flood. Can't have extinct dinosaurs before the Flood because they all had to die DURING the Flood.
I will never and have never EVER made any claim as to the validity or non-validity of creationism....will never say it's "wrong" in any manner
Note: I don't discount the notion of the Great Flood...but I WILL make someone think through the notion that all the dinosaurs died during the Great Flood......that Man walked the Earth at the same time as the dinosaurs......
.....that's not a "Creationist" belief....that's a YECreationist belief that even Creationists scoff at here on FR.
The dichotomy exists, whether you choose to see it or not. Can't have all the dinosaurs die in the Flood if God ordered Noah to gather up a pair of EVERY animal, beast, creepy-crawlie on the Earth and Noah gathered......no dinosaurs. They can't exist (to die in the Flood) and not exist (to not be gathered) at the same time.
I know Noah did as God told him.....says so right there in Genesis 6:22 that "Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he."
Spare me the psychoanalysis...
Only if you spare me your exegesis.
“The dichotomy exists, whether you choose to see it or not. Can't have all the dinosaurs die in the Flood if God ordered Noah to gather up a pair of EVERY animal, beast, creepy-crawlie on the Earth and Noah gathered......no dinosaurs. They can't exist (to die in the Flood) and not exist (to not be gathered) at the same time.”
The command was two's and seven's of every KIND. IF dinosaurs were alive at the time only members of the dinosaur KIND would have been taken into the Ark.
So no need to take huge dinosaurs aboard if members of their KIND were available.
....and......not ONE of any dinosaur KIND in the fossil record was taken aboard...how inconvenient for ALL dinosaur KINDs and how convenient for those that will interpret KIND to mean whatever they want it to mean.
How INCONVENIENT for THOSE that DO NOT understand WHAT the BIBLE says and want TO make THE hand OF GOD fit the glove OF DARWINISM by cutting off A FEW fingers.
“and......not ONE of any dinosaur KIND in the fossil record was taken aboard...”
AND you KNOW this HOW?
...because.......there are none. Not one. Not one “kind”...not one “sort”...not one “species” of dinosaur in the fossil record was gathered. Somehow, not ONE dinosaur found in the fossil record was considered a “kind”??
10,000 species of birds, divided into untold numbers of “kinds”....not ONE dinosaur species from the fossil record?
Not one T. Rex eating every other living thing available for 150+ days.....let alone a pair?
Not one 100+ foot long sauropod species eating every plant available for 150+ days....let alone a pair?
Not one 30 foot Pterodactyl??
The rational Creationist should laugh at the notion of ALL dinosaur species in the fossil record dying in the Great Flood too.....and Creationists I mention this lunacy to do laugh.
Especially adding that all the other animals not gathered along with the few pair that were....should ALSO be in the exact same dinosaur fossil record because they all drowned in the same flood and should have been deposited at the same time...fossilized at the same time. Yet.....where are the cow fossils? Untold thousands upon thousands of cattle and not one fossil has been found of a cow?????
I can go along with the Creation, because I’m not in any way interested in how life began...I’m interested in how life works in the present.....so it’s as good an answer as any other I could hear about something that happened billions of years ago.
I can even go along with this Great Flood. It’s a stretch to think that there was room on board for all the food necessary for all the animal pairs for 150 days, especially considering that SOME of them ate other animals....but whatever.....a minor detail. Just thinking of 150 days of all that animal urine (poo can be thrown overboard) makes me gag.
.....but there isn’t much of a chance that I’ll go along with the dinosaurs being alive at the time of humans, yet not one found in the fossil record was gathered to the Ark.
Of course, I’m not trying to read the Bible and fit everything known, discovered, or extinct in with a notion that the Earth is 6000 years old.
My belief in the validity of evolution has nothing to do with the notion that dinosaurs were alive during the Flood......but pointing the finger is an old tactic that must be tried.
