PRESS STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF DR. GEORGE TILLER'S FAMILY (and we mourn the lives Mr. Tiller took)
KWCH CBS 12 ^ | 5/31/2009 | Dan Monnat, Lee Thompson

Posted on 05/31/2009 5:46:56 PM PDT by tobyhill

Dan Monnat and Lee Thompson, Dr. George Tiller's attorneys, issued the following statement today at the request of Mrs. Jeanne Tiller, the Tiller's four children and ten grandchildren:

"Today we mourn the loss of our husband, father and grandfather. Today's event is an unspeakable tragedy for all of us and for George's friends and patients. This is particularly heart wrenching because George was shot down in his house of worship, a place of peace.

We would like to express the family's thanks for the many messages of sympathy from our friends and from all across the nation. We also want to thank the law enforcement officers who are investigating this crime.

Our loss is also a loss for the City of Wichita and women across America. George dedicated his life to providing women with high-quality heath care despite frequent threats and violence. We ask that he be remembered as a good husband, father and grandfather and a dedicated servant on behalf of the rights of women everywhere."

“To be Christian is to be ‘Christlike’ it is an impossibility therefore for a Christian to commit murder..”

That reminded me of a scripture:

1 John 2:6 “Anyone who says he is a Christian should live as Christ did.”

The Bible does not condone vigilantism. Period. That’s what Tillman’s killer is.

What do you mean anyone?

Anyone means any fallen human being, which, so far as I know, excludes no one who is presently alive.

Someone posted on another thread, and I wholeheartedly agree:

When you are your own Pope, nothing else matters. The only thing driving one’s beliefs are the contents of one’s stomach, the softness of one’s bed, the condition of the weather, the emotions of one’s spouse, or the outcome of the horse race at the track.

A church that would admit an abortionist into its presence is not a place I'd want to worship in.

The left will not see the irony that a murderer met the same fate as the one he visited on countless babies. Abortion is a nightmare- but late-term abortion is a barbaric monstrosity.

I know it is not PC to say! I was only pointing out the fact that he will not be performing any more abortions. Which one of the two, committed the greater crime?

If children at a daycare where being held hostage with threats of murder against them, the swat team would be called in, perhaps police snipers would take the guy out?

What`s the difference?

Obviously the guy who shot Tiller was prepared for what comes next for him and was willing to give his life to save others.

To stop the killing of thousands IS THE CLEAR RESPONSIBILITY of EVERYONE in a just society.

Was he the murderer of babies? Yes. Does that mean that we should walk up to him and shoot him in the head?”””

Would it be better if it was ordered by a head of state? As in saddam, bin laden, saddams kids, somali pirates, etc... were killed by an order from a leader of free people?? You tell me the difference?

What a HYPOCRITE! Why would a LOSER like Tiller EVER go to CHURCH??

It would be better if the procedure were outlawed by the elected representatives of the people and if he continued the practice he would spend the rest of his miserable life in prison.

To say that his killing of babies is justification for an obviously insane person to shoot him is wrong. Period.

I still do not understand. Do you mean that you go to a man to interpret the Bible for you? What if he is wrong?

The Bible was written for man - not some men and not for others.

Anyone can read the bible. Anyone will understand what Jesus says (after all - it is usually in red). And, when you read the Bible you are then educated and will not fall prey to false doctrine that many men wish to sell you.

If a man chooses to read for personal gain, he will soon find out that Jesus does not consider personal gain of value. You will note that Jesus was born in a manger, the major prophets were not rich but lived clothed in wild skins, long hair, and cared not for their personal gain.

You will find that all through the Bible, Jesus and God valued the heart of man - not his status.

If not, then why would God send His Son to be born in a manger and raised by a simple everyday family - rather than being born to royalty? Why were all the apostles told to leave everything and follow Him. They did and all of them too met horrible deaths.

God does not value riches, wealth, status - His world is not man’s world. Don’t let man hold the truth and interpret it for you. Man may also care about his wealth, his status, his power and want control over you and your wealth.

FIRST, DO NO HARM

"I will follow that system of regimen which, according to my abililty and judgment, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous.

I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner I will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion.

With purity and with holiness I will pass my life and practice my Art.

Into whatever houses I enter, I will go into them for the benefit of the sick, and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief and corruption"

Will Sebelius return the hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to his survivors that she received from Tiller to veto the Kansas partial birth abortion bill and keep him in the business of terminating the lives of the unborn?
You know to help out the grieving family and all.

>> There are liberal churches/segments of all religious faiths. As much as it makes my blood boil. <<

True, but churches that are known to be "liberal" are denominations like Unitarians and United Church of Christ. The church he attended (Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, KS) is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) branch of Lutherans. We always hear that "Evangelical" churches are supposedly so conservative and don't tolerant abortionists and gay marriage in their ranks, etc. Apparently not in this case.

In our VBS last year one of the lessons was the ABC's of Christianity:

Acknowledge that Sin will lead eternally to death, not to life.

Believe that there will be two eternal destinations - one is Spiritual Life and the other is Spiritual Death, and Jesus has died on the Cross for our sins.

Confess that you are the sinner and your sin has been reconciled by Grace of God through faith in that Jesus has died for your sin.

Very good points. This murder is a loss for our movement no matter how anyone slices this. It gets us no closer to the end of the legal holocaust that goes on in this country and in fact probably pushes us further away from that.

This is how we respond: The prolife community in Kansas and elsewhere provide crisis pregnancy centers and react to late term abortion by supporting perinatal hospice. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2261904/posts

(And, yes, I will spam every thread with this link. We cannot be silent about the good work done for life.)
