WASHINGTON: The White House sought on Friday to quell a controversy over US supreme court nominee Sonia Sotomayor's 2001 comment indicating Hispanic women may decide cases better than white men, saying she used a poor choice of words.
In an NBC interview, President Barack Obama said he was sure Sotomayor "would have restated" her comment. "If you look in the entire sweep of the essay that she wrote, what's clear is that she was simply saying that her life experiences will give her information about the struggles and hardships that people are going through that will make her a good judge," Obama said.

Sotomayor and Michelle Obama are glass half empty feminazi types. I don't believe they appreciate the good things that have happened to them.
They both tense cry babies.

Judges, especially SCOTUS Justices, cannot “choose” a wrong word. It becomes law. Her remarks are improper.
She isn’t qualified.

I agree with you on the inside and you can have at either if you want, but I think to insult the outside is diminishing of FR and your argument.

No, saying that “global warming is proven science” is a poor choice of words (aside from being a flat out lie).
Her words - “wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life” are not a poor choice of words, but a deeply held conviction.
She ASSUMES - and PRESUME that there are wise Latina women, and she is one of the.
She then denigrates all white males by not considering the possiblity that some of them may be wise.
Finally, she dismisses the possibility that anyone but her have had such a tough life.
Anytime she wants to put her “tough life” up against mine, bring it on. Not bragging or complaining about my lot, just saying that there are plenty of people who live through tough times.

Hey Barry, who needs law school if all you need are life experiences. We all know people - not racists - who have had struggles and hardship.
Why the spin for her? She too incompetent to explain it for herself? And you considerate it 'good'? She spoke from her heart - kill the spin.

Is that anything like a “bureaucratic snafu”?

Poor choice of words? Perhaps.
True reflection of the nominee’s mindset? Absolutely.
Sotomayor is not suited for the Federal bench at ANY level. The pubbies need to fight this nomination with all the vigor the DhimmiRats have used for the past eight years.
It’s time to take back the country.

Any Pubbie who votes her out of Judiciary committee should lose their should lose their spot on that committee immediately. Problem is that the Republican leadership doesn't have the guts to do that.

My thoughts exactly.
What other words could have she said that would have altered the meaning?
You say what you mean.
