Sen. Cornyn shuns Limbaugh and Gingrich, calls it "terrible" to accuse Judge Sotomayor of racism

Sen. John Cornyn tonight repudiated the allegation that Judge Sonia Sotomayor is "racist" - and he distanced himself in no uncertain terms from the conservative opinion leaders who leveled that charge against the Supreme Court nominee, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

"I think it's terrible. This is not the kind of tone that any of us want to set when it comes to performing our constitutional responsibilities of advice and consent," Cornyn told NPR's "All Things Considered." The racism allegation - and efforts to pressure Sotomayor to withdraw from consideration for the court - stem from Sotomayor's remark that as a Latina, she would bring a superior perspective to some cases than a white male judge.

Asked by NPR if he's worried that comments like Limbaugh and Gingrich's harm the confirmation debate, Cornyn said: "Neither one of these men are elected Republican officials. I just don't think it's appropriate and I certainly don't endorse it. I think it's wrong."

The interview offered a preview of Sunday's

So... Sotomayer IS a racist

(and a sexist)

it is just bad to actually point out the truth about her being a racist (and a sexist)

Many court rooms have the quote emblazend on the walls “We who labor here seek only the truth...”

Cornyn does not want the truth.

President Obama's radical new nominee to replace Associate Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor, used to serve on the board of LatinoJustice PRLDEF (White House backgrounder), one of the racial grievance groups thathelped to sink the judicial nomination of Honduran-born Miguel Estrada in 2003.

Along with groups such as the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF), LatinoJustice fought a war of attrition againstPresident George W. Bush's2001 nomination of conservative Miguel Estrada, a Honduran-born immigrant, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Democrats in the Senate filibustered the nomination and a weary Estrada withdrew from consideration in 2003.

Today LatinoJustice PRLDEF, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit, hailed the nomination of Sotomayor on the basis of her ethno-cultural heritage. "As the second largest and fastest growing population in America, with a large pool of qualified individuals to choose from, it was wholly appropriate for the president to nominate a Hispanic," thegroup said in a written statement. According to the group's website, it gets some of its funding from George Soros's Open Society Institute.

He had one(primary challanger) last year. Cornyn beat him 80 to 20.

I'd bet good money that he wouldn't beat a mummy by those margins this year. He has shown what a worthless POS he is in the last year! He hid it before.

Sen. John Cornyn is what happens when Republicans insist on keeping RINO’s in the party.

But, what happens is that on any crucial vote or issue where they need to stand up; they acquiesce in favor of the Democrat party due to the lack of any backbone.

We are better off without them in the party.

“It is “terrible” that Sotomayor IS a racist!”

Seems that Corny “could” be made to agree with you since he said he disagrees, but does not refute.

"This is AREg land"

Wow...I hope that "ARE" country, the United States, is not not compromised by "ARE" illegal invaders who desire "ARE" way of life without having to do squat to earn it legally.

Some people are just too ignorant to exist...EPIC FAIL.

At this point, yes, although they won't leave. For the time being they'll just continue to vote with the power of the moment instead of acting like adults much less conservatives.

We must assume that we will lose every single vote for at least two years. During this time we must vocally and visibly and consistently become the strong adult conservatives that the public respects and not the lukewarm socialist-lite, fearful go-alongs that the RINOs in charge are now.

If we don't stand up for our principles then they are lost anyway because of the administration in charge. Personally I see no downside to fighting the war of hearts and minds in full offense mode.

Starting with Sotomayor.

He just feels emboldened now that he just got reelected.

I won't forget next time.

Even if it means voting third Party.

Sotomayor -racist
Cornyn-coward
It’s perfect equations such as that
that make each other possible
like sadists and masochists.
Whoever discovered the psychological link
and created the concept of ‘S&M’ was a genius.
The two need one another.
THis has now come to define large areas of our politics,
namely those ‘common grounds’ where the current Party in Power dances with the minority party, and where they come to an ‘understanding’ just who is “Boss”.
