Big Brother asks: 'Do you have a flush toilet?'
World Net Daily ^ | 5/28/09 | Chelsea Schilling

The federal government is forcing 3 million Americans to disclose sensitive, personal information about finances, health and lifestyle in a 14-page survey – including questions about availability of household flush toilets and difficulty with undressing and bathing.

The 2009 American Community Survey, an annual supplement to the decennial Census, asks about residents' personal relationships and whether a home has hot and cold running water, a flush toilet, bathing facilities, appliances and phone services. It also asks how many rooms are in a home and what vehicles are used at each household.

The new questionnaire asks respondents what they pay for electricity, gas, water and sewer every month and whether residents receive food stamps.

Question 16 asks, "About how much do you think this house and lot, apartment, or mobile home would sell for if it were for sale?"

Then come the really nosy questions, ranging from your college major and your health insurance to how you spend each day at the office. The survey even asks what time you leave for work, down to the hour and minute.

It also asks whether, “because of a physical, mental or emotional condition,” you have difficulty “concentrating, remembering or making decisions,” “walking or climbing stairs,” “doing errands alone such as visiting a doctor’s office or shopping” or “dressing or bathing.”

So much for keeping government out of the bedroom. The survey also demands your current marital status; whether you’ve been married, widowed or divorced in the last 12 months, and how many times you’ve been married. If you’re a woman between the ages of 15 and 50, you must also answer whether you’ve given birth in the last 12 months. The Census Bureau says this “measure of fertility” is used to “carry out various programs required by statute, including . . . conducting research for voluntary family planning programs.” What was that about a “woman’s right to privacy”?

I think the key is don't let them in your house, period. If they come then stand on the porch and reply to how may people are in the house and say good bye. and have a good recorder video or sound both would be best.

I think they space out these "community surveys" so not everyone gets one in the same year. IIRC mine came last year and when I checked if the subject had come up on FR the thread was two years old.

I never sent mine in and I was finally called by a census worker who attempted to do the survey over the phone. Despite the threatened penalties I had read, I refused to answer any questions I thought were intrusive which as I recall was the majority of them.

My refusal to answer seemed highly surprising to the woman calling and she asked me why but I decided not to answer that either. I haven't been contacted again.

There hasn’t been a “census” like this one since King Herod.

Better answer from this dude:

“I simply told them I have a religious belief against being enumerated and the guy said ok and left without incident.”

God said not to number His people.

From WND. Not surprising.

___________
So? and your point is? The story is true, read above, some FReepers got this form.

And YOUR point is?
This is information that hundreds if not thousands of NON-governmental agencies get about you every day, 365 days a year.
Publications like "The World Almanac" use such information, government agencies, businesses, engineers, sociologists, charitable organizations, etc., use this information to build an information base which in turn is used to shape their policies and budgets for the coming decade.
Acting like a conspiracy theorist over basic census information is immature and ultimately self- defeating.

It is practically impossible to combat special interest propaganda when you yourself know that any attempt to present accurate data in defense of your position is futile.

Why? The data has been corrupted by a bunch of paranoids afraid that telling someone they have a toilet will result in armageddon.

And, if you don't like the form, be obtuse, or just don't answer any questions that offend you, or violate your sense of privacy.
You can even create your own unique acronym to use on those questions.
VSOP or VSP = Violates Sense of Privacy
OTAQ = Offense Taken At Question or QIO = Question Is Offensive.

Take the time to fill out a "legend" explaining each acronym at the bottom of the 1st page of the questionnaire, or, if you want to be especially annoying, the bottom of the LAST page of the questionnaire.

Last census I refused to send it back and the govt. sent out folks to inquire. I told them to get the hell off my property and so they asked a neighbor how many folks lived in my home.

I just opened the envelope that I received a couple of weeks ago from the census bureau to see if I am one of the 3 million.

It’s a 2007 survey of business owners and self-employed persons.

2007!

"So what do you do if you get one? ‘Accidentally’ throw it away with the other junk mail? If questioned why you haven’t turned it in, respond with “I never got one,” or something to that effect? The answers to these questions are none of their business!

Yep...we got one the last time...only question we answered was the one asking how many people were in the household and sent it back. A short while later we got a call saying we didn't complete the form...they'll send another...got that one and tossed it...after a couple of weeks the calls stopped...I guess we're on somebody's list...

You're right...the answers to most of the questions are none of their business...the property questions can be obtained through the city/county tax office if they want the info bad enough...

Put the most outrageous answers you can think of on it and send it back.

I'm gonna tell 'em I have 13 illegal immigrants living with me. And then ask them if they count.

I like to see them even find my house, they’ll need to travels at least 6 and a half miles of rough rocky roads and climb at least 2 hills that most of the time require 4 wheel drive, thats if they take the right road. Take the wrong one and they’ll be so lost they may never get out. We’ve got 36 sections with almost 200 miles of roads on it.

They wouldn't be the first ones to get turned around out here, and yes I would go get them. I've got enough problems with Coyotes already, no sense providing a fresh food source for them. Actually there's no way they would ever get to my house, all my gates are locked and posted. Should they manage to get in they would soon find out just how serious we take criminal trespassing here in Texas.
