Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly responded on The Factor tonight to criticisms of his attacks last night on Free Republic and Hot Air by the sites' respective founders, Jim Robinson and Michelle Malkin. The segment last night was on reaction by right and left wing websites on the Judge Sotomayor nomination to the Supreme Court. Free Republic was singled out for an obnoxious comment about Sotomayor being diabetic. Hot Air was singled out for an impolitic strongly worded appeal to block her nomination.
O'Reilly noted Malkin's reaction made on Fox and Friends this morning and Robinson's comments which were posted on Free Republic and e-mailed to The Factor.
O'Reilly agreed that both had points but that the sites should better monitor their comments as he does at his site and that O'Reilly would hold both right and left wing sites accountable.
Hot Air complained that the comment singled out by O'Reilly was labeled a 'blog' entry rather than a comment, thereby leaving the impression it was made by one of the site's official posters.
Jim Robinson's response was boiled down to Jim calling O'Reilly "an elitist gasbag" and noting that offending comments sometimes get past the moderators. O'Reilly did not inform his viewers that Mr. Robinson is a diabetic who has lost family to the disease.
The segment aired about forty minutes into the program tonight.
FR threads one and two.
Video of last night's Factor segment.
Michelle Malkin on Fox and Friends.
Just unbelievable!!!!
kristinn, you shoulda run this video at the top of the thread.....no words necessary.
“Honestly, folks, and Ive watched OReilly for some time, and I still do listen to him while I surf the net, because my background TV is generally tuned to Fox, the quality of MOST Fox news programs has really nose-dived WITH THE EXCEPTION of the new Glen Beck show.
Whether OReilly, Hannity, Baird, you name it, they all use these cycled and recycled talking heads...”
And they all report the SAME stories. BORING.... Beck is the only one who finds different stories. It is refreshing to watch him. He must have a good staff with motivation.
...Hmmm, save for later debate...
O’Reilly Flips Out. One of the most viewed videos on YouTube. Pretty funny, but some very strong language, so keep away from children!

O’Reilly generates so much HOT AIR ,that if O’Reilly lived earlier, the Germans would NOT have needed to use Hygrogen for The HINDENBERG and the Catastrophe at Lake Hurst would have been prevented! :-)
Republicans and conservatives always being concerned with “showing class” is what got us into this mess, with wimps more concerned with “reaching across the aisle” than saving the Republic. When a bully continues to beat up on someone, sometimes the best response is to punch back.
Marked to read later
I’m going to disagree in that Kirsten Powers does not follow the party line up and down. Having read some of her columns, she is at least speaking in her own voice.
What she drinks in her free time, I don’t know. LOL
BOR has become his word of the day. Was the selection yesterday irony.
He’s sadly become a voice that once was mainstream to one that is full of himself. He’s the new Geraldo.
He’s thrilled with his paycheck and thinks it means greatness. It happens all the time.
Frankly, he makes conclusions on FR and admits he doesn’t go on the internet “thingy.” Admits to this world being foreign to him yet he can make sweeping generalizations without even knowing what he’s talking about.
His smirking “apology” and other comments were telling in his condescension. Nothing more.
I’ll side with Jim Robinson any day. That’s a great American who I will support.
BOR has become his own favorite entertainer. Stick to quiz shows Bill. That’s more your speed.
LOL...one of my all-time favorite movie lines. It says so much!
And let Glenn Beck take that 8PM EST slot.
Whatta Gasbag !!!
O’R: “Freerepublic.com is probably the roughest right wing web site.” (Can someone make a banner for that quote?)
Bottom line...O’R wants all the sites left and right to “moderate” to his liking? Pro censorship Bill? Huffington already censors everyone (really thought that one through, eh, Bill?) You won’t be happy til everyone censors to your opinion?
Politically incorrect, obnoxious comments exist on every site that allows commenters - grow up!
Don't ever view the comments on Yahoo! You'll need a shower afterwards.
And F.R. is tame compared to D.U. , H.P, and Kos. Get on their case. We police our own very well, thank you bloviator.
If Bill were half as smart as he thinks he is, he’d be twice as smart as everyone knows him to be.
Nothing makes that clearer than when he has Dennis Miller on. He steps all over his punch lines and doesn't get most of his jokes. Yet he still insists on trying to go toe to toe with Miller with what he believes to be clever quips. Watch Miller's face during some of these exchanges. You can see he's thinking you pompous ass you have no idea what I'm talking about.
