Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly responded on The Factor tonight to criticisms of his attacks last night on Free Republic and Hot Air by the sites' respective founders, Jim Robinson and Michelle Malkin. The segment last night was on reaction by right and left wing websites on the Judge Sotomayor nomination to the Supreme Court. Free Republic was singled out for an obnoxious comment about Sotomayor being diabetic. Hot Air was singled out for an impolitic strongly worded appeal to block her nomination.
O'Reilly noted Malkin's reaction made on Fox and Friends this morning and Robinson's comments which were posted on Free Republic and e-mailed to The Factor.
O'Reilly agreed that both had points but that the sites should better monitor their comments as he does at his site and that O'Reilly would hold both right and left wing sites accountable.
Hot Air complained that the comment singled out by O'Reilly was labeled a 'blog' entry rather than a comment, thereby leaving the impression it was made by one of the site's official posters.
Jim Robinson's response was boiled down to Jim calling O'Reilly "an elitist gasbag" and noting that offending comments sometimes get past the moderators. O'Reilly did not inform his viewers that Mr. Robinson is a diabetic who has lost family to the disease.
The segment aired about forty minutes into the program tonight.
FR threads one and two.

Michelle Malkin on Fox and Friends.
Bill, an elitist gasbag is a pompous insecure fool... who molests women.
Of course it is easy to moderate since no one visits it.
I have a lot less respect for Ingraham since she apparently has no respect for herself as demonstrated by hanging out with the all-spin-zone meister, BOR.
Why would conservatives watch this egomaniac anyway? Turn his shallow program off and let his ratings tank.
???
After his attack on FR, I think he needs to establish The No Spine Zone...
I've never watched him yet.
I was kind of partial to one poster’s comment that O’Reilly was a “brainless falafel.”
I read Jim’s post and my first response was, “What’s this O’Reely thing he’s talking about?”
I didn’t watch the BORe when he was on some salacious teevee tabloid scandal show and I haven’t ever watched him since.
Then my next thought was, “Jim, after running this forum for so many years, you - especially YOU - should know the primary rule: DON’T FEED the TROLLS!”
I know it’s hard and I’ve held myself back many time from posting something in response to someone who is obviously standing, jumping up and down, waving his arms in the air, wetting his lacy pink panties and literally shouting, “Look at me, everybody, look at meeeeeeee!” It IS hard to resist.
But all Jim and Michelle Malkin have done is increase the BORe’s viewership and given him more ammunition. Everyone who knows what he is takes none of your energy to describe him; they already know and very likely have the same opinion.
Those who don’t know who he is - and the numbers must be legion - don’t deserve to have him called to their attention. Why inflict a worthless gasbag on some unknowing innocent who sees your response and goes to look and find out who this mental midjet is... thus resulting in another stultified, repulsed brain - at best - or a new unimaginably stupid (typically liberal) convert to his teevee drivel and scandal based idiology.
Jim, you of all people, should know that no matter what you write and no matter how cogent and coherent your response is to him, it will be taken out of context, twisted and maliciously lied about... all to win a few more viewers and ratings points.
If virtually no one ever tuned in to mr single-digit-IQ’s tabloid exercise in ego pumping, he’d fade quickly away. Thus the old BBS and forum adage: DON’T FEED THE TROLLS. (But to be honest, FR seems to have much more intelligent, higher IQ, and better looking trolls than BOR could ever hope to rise up to. And as you know, that’s saying a LOT!)
No matter how much I agree with what Jim wrote, making him irrelevant is more powerful than responding to his moronic rants.
Just my moronic 2 one hundreths of a buck.

Arlington County Virginia cops used to bust kids eating potato chips on the Metrorail. They’d take them to the county lockup and do a body cavity check on them.
How closely should a web sight be monitored?? How politically correct should the sight administrators be? Jim Robinson has always brought people up short when the strayed too far off of the Conservative range. Likewise he has limited posts that go the the the Skinhead side of the spectrum. As a result most of the posters, at least the long term posters, kind of, sort of mostly agree and if they don't, there are plenty of other sites they can gravitate toward. That is a long ways from Robinson assuming responsibility and being answerable for each and every comment.
Holding Jim Robinson responsible for my comments on a political discussion web site is beyond ludicrous to the point of being Orwellian.
saw it live, as i was watching the show : )
The sad fact is that truth or unpopular opinions aren’t always appreciated nor welcomed. And no matter how hard you may try to explain yourself, it won’t matter. Either play follow the leader or drink lots of coffee because there’s a pissin’ match headin’ your way. ;)
I’m really starting to question O’Reilly’s impartiality. He gives Al Sharpton tons of free air time to legitimize his odious and racist ideology. You can find screwball stuff on any blog. He picked Malkin and Free Republic because he does not like conservatives. Ever since O’Reilly gave Geraldo a platform to smear Malkin, and she called him on it, he has it in for her.
You’re correct—you didn’t say Jim had no class.
I have no problem with being corrected.

I don't agree with everything Glenn Beck says. He's a libertarian, I'm a conservative. But I find him entertaining and he has more substance on his show than the others. He interviews real people not just Fox's stable of talking heads. The Acorn stuff O’Reilly has, is directly from Glenn Beck’s show. I wish Glenn Beck had continued to run with it. I want to know why the FBI isn't investigating the money trail.
