AUSTIN - The Texas Senate passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 54 by State Senator Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) to express opposition to federal legislation infringing on the individual right to keep and bear arms.

“I filed this resolution to reassert our constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” said Estes. “The Second Amendment is fundamental to the founding of our republic and a cornerstone to our personal freedoms.”

The resolution reasserts our “right to keep and bear arms to protect oneself, one’s family, and one’s possessions from either the lawlessness of other persons or the tyranny of the government.”

Senate Concurrent Resolution 54 specifically opposes federal gun control legislation such as the Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record Sale Act of 2009 filed in the United States Congress, which would require all firearm owners to apply for and carry a federally issued license in order to keep any firearm in their homes.

When is Tex. going to break off from the rest of the country? I’m looking to make a move. I’ve always enjoyed your gulf coast area, except for the hurricane thing.

Impeach Blair Holt, then revoke his citizenship. He's another statist who thinks the Constitution is a mere scrap of paper.

Texans need to be a little... motivated? embarrassed?

Scratch that-- Blair Holt was a kid in Chicago who was shot and killed in 2007.

Congressman Bobby Rush (D.-IL) is the perpetrator:

A radical Black Leftist female Democrat (Who is usually as dumb as Sheila Jackson Lee) used a “Point of Order” technicality to derail the Sovereignty Resolution right here at the end of the Legislative Session.
The Pubbies (not called the “Stupid Party” for nothing) should be ashamed of themselves for letting this happen to them (And us). Maybe Perry will Man UP and call a special Session to adress this.
They also dropped the ball on Voter ID. Maybe he could also include this in the Special Session as well. If he does, maybe the Dims will head to Oklahoma again.

Yeah, I read that thread.

Of course the woman had to say something about “states’ rights = slavery” in her “point of order”.
