Did they think to check the mailbox or the number on the door?
Just once I’d like to see these rogues enter an Islamic Temple that way.
Ok, this demands this response:
It seems they found someone impersonating police, themselves.
It’s generally nice to add what state/area the story is from.
To quote the Pinellas County (Florida) Sheriff’s department Internal Affairs desk, responding to my complaint about the SWAT operation on my office one summer evening in the mid 1980’s: “It never happened.”
Tax dollars hard at work, expect more of this except for mistaken identity...
She needs to sue now.
BTW These botch raids can get innocent people and police officers hurt or killed, and hurt their image with the community.
This type of crime warrants a dynamic entry? Lemme guess, he was probably wearing the body armor while working as a repo man (and telling folks he's a cop).
Couldn't they just knock on his door and arrest him? Does every crime call for a battering ram these days?
This kind of crap is happening WAY TOO OFTEN !
“He kind of paused for a little bit,” Borntrager continued. “Then, he asked me again. And, then he says, well, I think we’re at the wrong house!”
However, just for good measure, they clotheslined Mrs. Borntrager, shot Mr. Borntrager with a taser, and killed the family dog....
Why is it that so many police departments these days entertain the notion that arresting perps is a job for the domestic version of Navy SEALS?
I'll say!
Was there a pit bull in the home?
Imagine that. They seem to have been able to serve a search warrant without surprise tactics and breaking down a front door in full Navy Seal swat gear.
How quaint.
Well, they have a swat team. Now they HAVE to use them.
Is that how the expression “Land O’Goshen!” got started?
Body armor is not for the untrained.
I don’t get this no knock swat team assault business. Can the LEO on the site help us out? If the guy isn’t home, they don’t get him. If he is appraching his house and sees the door bashed down, he’s likely to suspect the police are there and will flee. What’s the point? Can’t they id the guy. Stake out the place. Wait for him to come home. Then nab him before he gets inside and suits up in his super fortress where he can defend against an assault? I see stupid here.
Paramilitary SWAT should not exist in the United States.
The peasants aren't allowed?
The music from Benny Hill started in my mind as I read this. In one skit, he is a cop and they knock down the wrong door only to realize that the 6 has turned over and now is a 9.
Seriously, as a fireman, it is amazing how poorly (or not at all) many houses are marked. Makes it even more fun after dark. I would think that SWAT would send someone by to confirm an address, as they generally have some advanced notice.
