The US has given warning to North Korea that it will 'pay a price' for its aggression after it launched two more missiles a day after an underground nuclear test.
Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the United Nations, issued the warning amid an increasingly bitter stand off between Washington and Pyongyang and as the UN Security Council discussed what further action could be taken to stem North Korea's belligerence.
A surface-to-air missile and a surface-to-ship missile were fired from North Korea's east coast on Tuesday, just hours after President Barack telephoned the leaders of South Korea and Japan to reassure them that he would protect them in the event of any attack.
The North Korean government said that it was clear that America's "hostile policy" of the Bush era had not changed.
"Our army and people are fully ready for battle ... against any reckless US attempt for a pre-emptive attack," it said in a statement.
The new launches came a day after the regime tested a nuclear bomb estimated to be the same size as the ones dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the Second World War. Pyongyang also fired three short-range missiles off its east coast on Monday.
It is unclear whether the missiles were test-launches, or whether North Korea is trying to deter US spy planes from hovering above its military installations.
The rogue state has also warned ships to stay clear of its east coast, and is now warning that its west coast should also be avoided, suggesting that further missile launches are planned.
"The North is continuing its sabre-rattling," an unnamed South Korean Defence official told the Yonhap news agency, without clarifying the possible intent of the missiles. South Korean intelligence has identified "brisk activity" along the coast line, as the North manoeuvres its

And if that doesn't work, we'll send over Adam Lambert.
Oh, man! No cognac? Bummer, man! Bummer!
Perhaps I should say “brummer.”
“Does anyone believe that North Korea will pay a price for this? hahaha...more empty rhetoric.”
Well, yes. Until the NK acts, Obama was going to have a kissy face photo op with Kim, like the Chavez one. Also, Obama was going to apologize for US agression in the Korean war.
Now, it will be an arm’s length handshake and he will only apologize for “bad judgment.”
"Me Wuv Maddie Wong Time!"
Visa or Mastercard?
More harsh language?
How will the North Korean government survive???
Japanese forces had radioactity detection aircraft up yesterday over the Sea of Japan, probably USAF also did.
That is truly the only rational response.
Look hopw slack and sloppy his whole body is.
Yes, this is the man to stand up to ‘Hairdo’ Kim.
LOL!!!
LOL! Excellent.
Don’t worry the TOTUS has an unlimited vocabulary.
“Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the United Nations, issued the warning amid an increasingly bitter stand off between Washington and Pyongyang and as the UN Security Council discussed what further action could be taken to stem North Korea’s belligerence.”
Said better that O could do, of course he would have to wait for it to be loaded into TOTUS.
Have we put them on double secret probation yet?
What's with this he stuff?
Man the spitball guns!! Full speed ahead!
Meanwhile...back at PRK Nuke Missile Command Headquarters....
What if this is a prelude to something really huge?
What if lil Kim announces that the South is going to held hostage to nuclear blackmail? Something like, lil Kim declares that he's annexing the South, and they have 72 hours to capitulate? Or maybe that US forces have a week to withdraw from the DMZ, or he'll do something rash?
What would 0 do? A dozen donuts says that 0 capitulates.
Lil Kim has taken his measure of 0, and found the Kenyan to be a Lilliputian. Handwringing at the UN only proves the point.
