INSTANT JUSTICE: GITMO? NO, KILL THUGS ON SPOT
NY Post ^ | May 26, 2009 | Ralph Peters

Posted on 05/26/2009 3:37:01 AM PDT by Scanian

WE made one great mistake regarding Guantanamo: No terrorist should have made it that far. All but a handful of those grotesquely romanticized prisoners should have been killed on the battlefield.

The few kept alive for their intelligence value should have been interrogated secretly, then executed.

Terrorists don't have legal rights or human rights. By committing or abetting acts of terror against the innocent, they place themselves outside of humanity's borders. They must be hunted as man-killing animals.

And, as a side benefit, dead terrorists don't pose legal quandaries.

Captured terrorists, on the other hand, are always a liability. Last week, President Obama revealed his utter failure to comprehend these butchers when he characterized Guantanamo as a terrorist recruiting tool.

Gitmo wasn't any such thing. Not the real Gitmo. The Guantanamo Obama believes in is a fiction of the global media. With rare, brief exceptions, Gitmo inmates have been treated far better than US citizens in our federal prisons.

But the reality of Gitmo was irrelevant -- the left needed us to be evil, to "reveal" ourselves as the moral equivalent of the terrorists. So they made up their Gitmo myths.

The Lt. Col. takes a cold-blooded view of non-uniformed combatants which I for one appreciate.

Thank you Zero! You've given our military the incentive to take no prisoners!

To beat terrorists, you need to become the terrorist.

There is another way, however, one that has worked in the past and will work again if we have the balls to attempt it.

During the Phillipine Insurrection, which is another incident of Muslim fanaticism, we moved thousands of small tribes and villages into protective enclaves.

This removed the main source of recruitment and support for the insurgency.

It provided protection, medical care, education, and a new look into a wider world for the backward, limited opportunities of the tribes.

It also denied the insurgents needed political capital and most of all, food.

This is a point that I have supported for years.
All terrorists should be killed on the spot. Don’t take prisoners when terrorists are involved. It costs money that could be better spend killing more terrorists.

By the Geneva convention enemy combatants out of unifrm on the battlefield may be summarily shot.

Why don’t they teach this to all our soldiers?

Doubtful. Any of our troops that does this will most likely be persecuted to the fullest extent the "law" allows.

The soldiers are not privileged to have their attorneys accompanying them. [/s]

All terrorists should be killed on the spot.

I would support this, provided we've extracted all information out of these scumbags by using all means available first, especially torture.

And I mean real torture, the kind where electric current is run through one's genitals or when someone loses a limb or three as opposed to the college fraternity hazing party tricks that we currently do to these scumbags.

Of course, people who know they will be killed in captivity are more likely to fight to the death. I don’t oppose Gitmo—I just think we’ve lost our nerve as a society.

I totally agree....had we executed the terrorists (after thorough investigation)....this issue would not have persisted so long after 9/11.

Unfortunately, we have squishy politicians on BOTH sides....who are more concerned with “world opinion” than national security

LTC Peters was an honorable warrior. There should be no quarter given to those who target or hide among civilians. What Obama and Holder do not get - perhaps because neither ever wore a military uniform of our country - is the intent of the Geneva Conventions was to protect civilians by deliberately leaving unprotected unjust warriors; those of us who wore one honorably held those core values. Then again, maybe they do understand and give more a damn about elections than civilians and our troops.

Put that on a poster or in a letter and send it to your CongressCritters. And maybe even the sitting president who is himself a terrorist and deserves no mercy.

Well, you were warned . . . !”

Free men should not fight wars except as a last resort. When they do, they should not have attorneys over their shoulders. Michael Scheuer echoes this sentiment, as do I, with this addition; there are no civilians in this war.
