'WE'RE OUT OF MONEY'
Sat May 23 2009 10:32:18 ET

In a sobering holiday interview with C-SPAN, President Obama boldly told Americans: "We are out of money."

C-SPAN host Steve Scully broke from a meek Washington press corps with probing questions for the new president.

SCULLY: You know the numbers, $1.7 trillion debt, a national deficit of $11 trillion. At what point do we run out of money?

OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we've made on health care so far. This is a consequence of the crisis that we've seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades.

So we've got a short-term problem, which is we had to spend a lot of money to salvage our financial system, we had to deal with the auto companies, a huge recession which drains tax revenue at the same time it's putting more pressure on governments to provide unemployment insurance or make sure that food stamps are available for people who have been laid off.

So we have a short-term problem and we also have a long-term problem. The short-term problem is dwarfed by the long-term problem. And the long-term problem is Medicaid and Medicare. If we don't reduce long-term health care inflation substantially, we can't get control of the deficit.

So, one option is just to do nothing. We say, well, it's too expensive for us to make some short-term investments in health care. We can't afford it. We've got this big deficit. Let's just keep the health care system that we've got now.

Along that trajectory, we will see health care cost as an overall share of our federal spending grow and grow and grow and grow until essentially it consumes everything...

SCULLY: When you see GM though as “Government Motors,” you're reaction?

OBAMA: Well, you know – look we are trying to help an auto industry that is going through a combination of bad decision making over many years and an unprecedented crisis or at least a crisis we haven't seen since the 1930's. And you know the economy is going to bounce back and we want to get out of the business of helping auto companies as quickly as we can. I have got more enough to do without that. In the same way that I want to get out of the business of helping banks, but we have to make some strategic decisions about strategic industries...

SCULLY: States like California in desperate financial situation, will you be forced to bail out the states?

OBAMA: No. I think that what you're seeing in states is that anytime you got a severe recession like this, as I said before, their demands on services are higher. So, they are sending more money out. At the same time, they're bringing less tax revenue in. And that's a painful adjustment, what we're going end up seeing is lot of states making very difficult choices there...

SCULLY: William Howard Taft served on the court after his presidency, would you have any interest in being on the Supreme Court?

OBAMA: You know, I am not sure that I could get through Senate confirmation...

Developing...

________
No sh*t Sherlock. He would have to answer questions and he knows what those questions will be. He’s having no part of that. He figures he will be a dictator by then and there will be no SC. He is wrong.

That’s the right response. What a dufus this guy is.

He’s about as presidential as a wet chicken.

How can he say we have no money, then turn around and advocate nationalizing health care?

We have had deficit spending for as long as I have been alive. We haven’t had a surplus in my lifetime that I am aware of.

So what does butt head do? He states we’re out of money.

Someone get the hook... This guy has been on stage way too long. Ted Mac’s amateur hour is over.

We have been “out of money” for decades now. The difference is the rest of the world is no longer believing that we are good credit risks.

I’m liking “The Pres__ent”, since his ID has not been found.
Also matches his voting record nicely.

Start buying Russian Rubles and Chinese Yuan. Those, along with currencies belonging to the OPEC cartel, and Russian/Chinese allies, will be the only ones to survive this. Gold, Silver, and raw materials are also safe bets.

The damage to the US economy was done last summer, with $150/bbl oil sapping any solvency from the US dollar. The collapse in housing was both because of a bubble and the fact that people had to choose between the mortgage and keeping gas in the tank to get to work.

“That’s coming June 6th.”

What we used to call D-Day.

Did you know September 11th is Serve America Day (as in perform free labor for the Fedgov), according to the recently-passed Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act?

LOL!

First Chairman Ubama says we're out of money, and then he says it's a short term problem.

We are so-o-o-o-o-o-o screwed.

RE: The comment that Obama is a collectivist see this blog post I put up a while ago during the campaign:

Obama Exposed – 1995 Interview Proves him a Collectivist

QUOTE:
Obama on Individualism, vs. Collective thought, action and deed…
“In America,” Obama says, “we have this strong bias toward individual action. You know, we idolize the John Wayne hero who comes in to correct things with both guns blazing. But individual actions, individual dreams, are not sufficient. We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations.”
- Barack Obama, Interview with the Chicago Reader, 1995

Unfortunately, the more we look at 0bama as an idiot, the more foolish we are. He is shrewd a politician as they come. He also is the puppet for the Alinsky clan behind him. These both, while a paradox, are true at the same time. Let’s not make foolish mistakes.

OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now.

Don't worry, he won't let that stop him from spending the money we don't have rewarding his friends and supporters.

I know, and don’t you just love it that you can drive around LA and see all those oil wells standing idle? Or look out off the coast of Santa Barbara and see where the oil seeps up through the beaches there - wasted - and know that California could totally drill its way out of a recession, and yet.... nope.

How much worse? Well, try this scenario on for size:

Israel gets bullied into signing the “Two State Solution” [THINK: “solution” as in “Final Solution”] with Israel as one party, and the “Islamic Conference Organization” of the 57 Flavors of Islam as the other, say late August or early September time frame.

That thing totters along like a blind drunk for about 42 months then, one fine day, the Israelis wake up to find themselves sold downriver by — guess who?? — The 57 Flavors of Islam. Treaty broken, just like always, by the same people as have always broken treaty with Israel, but this time Israel is nearly powerless to do much of anything about it.

So, about early to mid February 2013 the feces REALLY starts to hit the ventilator, and we see conflict erupt in and around Jerusalem as never before. This culminates in a real-life Armageddon, with the 57 Flavors crowd there in force, prepared to finally eradicate Israel for good, along with every Islam-compromised nation on the planet [on a “be there — or ELSE” basis”]. So it is that the European NATO forces show up aligned AGAINST Israel.

Then — just when it looks like it’s become as dark as it can possibly be — it goes pitch black, there’s a huge BOOM, a blinding flash, a searing light rending the heavens, and — next thing ya know — there’s The Almighty whistling — THWEEEEET!!! — “THAT’S IT!!! EVERYBODY!! OUTTA DA POOL!!!”

Stay tuned for the post-game wrap-up...
