But Enough About Me . . .
The Weekly Standard ^ | June 1, 2009 | William Kristol

Posted on 05/23/2009 5:55:03 AM PDT by Scanian

Barack Obama spoke at the National Archives last Thursday on the war on terror (not that he used that term). After paying tribute to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, and before turning to a defense of his policies, the President of the United States said:

I stand here today as someone whose own life was made possible by these documents. My father came to our shores in search of the promise that they offered. My mother made me rise before dawn to learn of their truth when I lived as a child in a foreign land. My own American journey was paved by generations of citizens who gave meaning to those simple words--"to form a more perfect union." I have studied the Constitution as a student; I have taught it as a teacher; I have been bound by it as a lawyer and legislator. I took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution as Commander-in-Chief, and as a citizen, I know that we must never--ever--turn our back on its enduring principles for expedience sake.

Who cares? Who cares about Barack Obama's father, his mother, or his "own American journey"? Is his journey so noteworthy that it needs to be intruded into a presidential speech on weighty matters of constitutional law and public policy, of civil liberties and national security? After all, tens of millions of other Americans have ancestors who came to these shores in search of the promise of a better life.

” I have studied the Constitution as a student; I have taught it as a teacher; I have been bound by it as a lawyer and legislator.”

He doesn’t seem to understand it very well. If time travel were possible; I would bet my life that the writer of the document would strongly rebuke the way the words in the document have been twisted and ignored.

Why doesn’t 0bama have his own archives room where we can all come to examine his foundational documents?

Ding-ding-ding! We have a winner!

The number one document listed as a state secret is Barry’s COLB. It should be on public display. Has the forged COLB been artificially distressed enough for public display yet? (I love conspiracy theories.....)

“Barack Obama happens temporarily to occupy the White House.”

During the capaign he gave it away and said that in ten years during my second term, Chicago would host the Olympics.

We are witnessing a Venezualian coup a la Hugo Chavez.

Any day now, his cult is going to demand that his term be extended.

“But it would be good if he showed that he understood that he is now president of the United States first, and Barack Obama, admirer of his own journey, second.”

Ouch...lol.

It’s ALL about Obama folks...get with the program. /sarcasm

“My father came to our shores in search of the promise that they offered. My mother made me rise before dawn to learn of their truth when I lived as a child in a foreign land.”

BARF ALERT

His sperm donor (claimed) was a promiscuous Kenyan revolutionary marxist roaming the free world as a privileged govt employee - apparently searching for Pootie Tang in every port. His mother was an anti-establishment marxist/black liberationist lover searching the world for something better than America.

Perhaps his adoptive father Lolo woke him at dawn for the muslim call to prayer, but call me skeptical that Stanley Dunham moved to Indonesia to wake little Barry up to read the US Constitution.

Does anyone else notice that 0bama just admitted that he was foreign born?

Even current bambi worshipers are going to tire of this narcissist and turn on him if money doesn't start showing up in their pockets soon, and we all know that ain't happening.

I went on a Disney Cruise a few years ago. I think I'll ask them if I can be captain of the ship.

"Does Obama understand that the office of the presidency is bigger--much bigger--than he is?"

NO!!! And he intends to change the Constitution and weaken it in any way he can.

Not even the most rabid homeschoolers wake their children at dawn to teach them the Constitution.

What a steaming pile of Barack.

The piece is good as far as it goes, but it doesn’t go nearly far enough. Kristol is so measured in his analytical distaste for Obama, that by the end, the final sentence undoes, yet also defines, the thrust of all that preceded it.
ALL THIS was evident about Obama even BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED. We are in the unbelievably unfortunate position of
having to come in after all the damage is done, and continues to be done, and sit by watching it happen, and formulate new angles through which we can view and evaluation King Obama. To end pieces like this with a “wouldn’t it be nice” wish is about as ineffectual as it gets. Obama will have to have it proven to him that the majority of AMericans have no respect in him, or confidence that he has the nation’s interests at heart, and are AT BEST still extremely ambivalent about even WHO HE IS, and WHY HE IS PRESIDENT. If we can’t get it together as a mass grassroots movement this year, we are in for LOTS MORE of “remaking America”.

Oh, yeah, the autobiography gambit has been a big one for both aspiring to higher office Politicos, and a thousand
“celebrities” you never heard of unless you watch TV eighteen hours a day. Obama is of their ilk./

It’s called a Presidential Library and I’d be very surprised to find that, in a burst of premature ejaculation, like everything else about him, it isn’t already being planned.

Almost every thief becomes so confident that eventually they make a little mistake. I am sure if we watch Obama very carefully we will eventually uncover that tiny mistake that will lead to his downfall. A lie can only last so long!
