All Guantanamo Needs Is Some Rebranding, Marketing Executives Say
Fox News online ^ | May 22, 2009

What if you gave it a name like "Shining Sands" or "Ocean Breeze" instead of ... Gitmo?

The prison center at Guantanamo Bay is destined to be closed down in January because "the name itself is a condemnation" of U.S. anti-terrorism strategy, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Friday.

But while it has become a "taint" on America's reputation, according to Gates, the prison facility in Cuba is at the same time "probably one of the finest prisons in the world today," he said Friday on NBC's "Today" show.

So could Gitmo be saved with a drastic rebranding effort? If you give it a new name and increased transparency, some marketing and public relations experts say yes.

How about Club Obama? Notice that Gates says it's "probably one of the finest prisons in the world today". If the terrorists held there are transferred to prisons in the United States, their living conditions would be worse? Ohmygod, we can't have that. Better to leave them at "Club Obama", then offer Cuba the chance to become a U.S. state. Then everyone in Cuba, including those at Club Obama, could be awarded Social Security, Medicare, and the other Socialist goodies.

Perhaps all the Club Obama inmates could be hired and trained by ACORN, GM, or the DNC.

Gates is a suck up midget. It’s not just about security either imho. Gitmo is a state of the art facility, that we have spent hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on...now it has all been wasted!

The only bad rep Gitmo had was the one falsely pasted on by the Leftwingtard lawyers who've been trying to defend the terrorists from justice.

They've shut up recently now that they got their boy into office.

Rush already marketed Club Gitmo better than the gummit could ever do so:

Rush already did that. It's called Camp Gitmo. A place to relax from the stresses of going jihad. Blue water, nice weather and soccer for recreation. And get fat on Islamic food. And a forced bath once in a while.

Name it after a Kennedy and, in so doing, force the libtards to defend its image. History will re-write itself instantaneously.

“The Kennedy Bay Of Pigs Detention & Rehabilitation Center of Cuba has always been our finest, most humane facility. The standard of care employed at this facility is a champion of progressive policies in action.”

Soon, the libtards will be giving tours of the facility to promote it as the premier example of how detention centers should be managed. It will become the defacto international standard overnight.

It was always so.

I forgot. It’s Club Gitmo, not Camp Gitmo. I didn’t get the T-shirt.

It is a humane and professionally run prison. The people that work there take their work seriously, and try to treat their prisoners with regard for their humanity.

If it has a bad reputation, its only because Democrats including Obama have lied about it since it was built, without ever visiting it to see what was really going on there, and they have lied about the people who work there without bothering to meet any of them and talk to them.

The bad PR is due entirely to the people who write the PR. Its bad rep is a natural result of being smeared every day by these people. The problem isn’t the prison, the problem is the lie. Now that the smear-mongers own the place, they can’t climb down publicly without everyone noticing, so they are looking for a way to do it without admitting they were lying before.

So Obama has extended it for a year, and congress has barred anyone from closing it. Why? Because they need it. Now they just need to get their new narrative straight.

Yes, when they rebrand it to a Republican/Conservative re-education camp, all the little petty liberals will finally change their mind about it.

Ping! You were right on the money!

Put all the detainees on a bus and drive them in a circle around town. While they are gone take down the “Gitmo” sign and put up a new sign - maybe “ACLU Respite Center”
